White - Sparkling
N.V. Doyard Champagne Premier Cru Vendémiaire Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Was tasted a little too warm in my opinion. Very shy nose which took a little time to open. Toasty, orchard fruit. Surprising lactic notes and quite fat on the palate. Did not recognise this cuvee I had many times...

N.V. Pierre Gimonnet & Fils Champagne Premier Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Cuis France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
A true BdB from the Cote des Blancs in character. Steely on the palate with a touch of almond. Gets a little fuller with air but always stays elegant. A good champagne.
Disgorged Feb 2nd, 2011.
72% ’08, 13.3% ’07, 3.3% ’06, 7.5% ’05 and 3.9% ’04
White - Sparkling
N.V. Gaston Chiquet Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs d'Aÿ France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Entirely from 1996. More intense color and nose than the 1st two wines. Oxidative notes, slightly nutty with honey. Interesting savory notes. Definitely shows some richness and sometimes seems to have a high dosage. Better focus and balance when cooler.
Overall interesting to try this BdB from a pinot terroir, which could also explain the richness of the wine.

Flight 2 (3 notes)

White - Sparkling
2000 Tarlant Champagne La Vigne d'Antan France, Champagne
Disgorged March 1st 2010 from ungrafted Chardonnay. Great elegant nose, mineral and toasty. Floral with lemon and white peach. It is everything you want in a bubbly. Everything seems to come together and in balance. Rich and focused at the same time.
White - Sparkling
N.V. Jacques Lassaigne Champagne Les Vignes de Montgueux Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
Strange nose of salty caramel popcorn, very smoky, sesame seeds and soy sauce. Never experienced this on that particular Champagne. Behind all this, a touch of apple, citrus, mineral and white chocolate. The palate is well done with similar profile.
