Introduction

Over the year, my father, a 'veritable bon vivant', inspired me in appreciating gastronomy and oenology. On this Sunday, we went to the Halles, a famous covert market in Avignon, located two minutes away form our place. From the 'poisonnier', Eugene, we got some amazingly fresh 'rougets barbets', which will eventually be cooked in sea salt and a notch of olive oil. We moved to the 'cremerie' to pick up some of my favorites cheeses: some 'conte', 'pelardons', and 'saint-felicien'.

Flight 1 - Rougets Barbets cooked in sea sat with a notch of olive oil extra. (1 note)

White
2009 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Roussanne Vieilles Vignes France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
100 points
Served blind, this beautiful, surprising, golden dress didn't need an introduction to show its glory. Opening with time, its buttery nose displayed a delectable orange marmelade. The legs were fat but the alcohol level wasn't overwhelming. This voluptuousness was a quintessential partition of apricot and nectarine relevé by some pepper. Delineated, endless, and fine as a musical partition, the Beaucastel Vieilles Vignes 2009's final was the most precise and incredible of any wine's final I have ever experienced. This represents the single best white wine I have ever tasted.

Flight 2 - Assortiment of cheeses. (1 note)

Red
2007 Famille Isabel Ferrando Châteauneuf-du-Pape Colombis France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
95 points
Way more backward than the bottle I had a few days ago, this Colombis 2007 was hidden by some iode and an acidic lace. It still was an amazingly dense and pure wine, gloriously showing these unique provencal spicies.
95+
