Mark Haisma 2011 En Primeur Tasting - Vinoteca, February 2013

Flight 1 (8 notes)
White
2011 Mark Haisma Saint-Romain Les Jarrons Blanc
Creamy with sweet citrus notes. Chalky, citrus palate. Restrained oak. Palate a little tight and tart but should soften. 2014+
Red
2011 Mark Haisma Pinot Noir Bourgogne
Lifted, red cherry aromas. Predominantly cherry on the palate too. Quite a bit of tannin just now and also quite dense and concentrated for a Bourgogne. Very promising. Mid-2014+
Red
2011 Mark Haisma Volnay
More concentrated than the Haisma Bourgogne with softer, silkier tannins. Everything is in place and very well balanced: should be a real beauty in a couple of years from now.
Red
2011 Mark Haisma Gevrey-Chambertin La Croix des Champs
Lots of concentrated, ripe fruit. Plenty of tannin but no rough edges. Sappy, stemmy notes come through on the finish. Good length. 2015+
Red
2010 Mark Haisma Gevrey-Chambertin La Croix des Champs
Spicy, animal-y notes dominate the nose with the fruit relegated to the background. Palate is tight and taut but nice juicy finish. Still a fair bit of acidity that needs to soften. 2015+
Red
2011 Mark Haisma Bonnes Mares
Barrel sample. This wine already has the most gloriously exotic scent - sweet, heady and spicy. Fruit profile is a little lighter than in 2010 and nor is palate quite so dense. Savoury finish despite the sweet aromas. 2017+
Red
2010 Mark Haisma Cornas Les Combes
Briny, spicy nose. Has closed up a little since last year but I 'get' this wine now and can see what all the fuss was about. Savoury, spicy and very fresh but needs another couple of years at least. 2015+
Red
2011 Mark Haisma Cornas Les Combes
A little lighter than the 2010 with a mix of red and darker fruit and a fresh, herbaceous quality. Lots of chewy tannin just now but plenty of acidity too so should resolve in time. 2016+
