Flight 1 (2 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Lanson Champagne Brut Black Label France, Champagne
Some richness on the nose showing toasty yeast, oxidized red apples, and tart lemon juice. Tons of fresh green apple on the palate along with plenty of sour lemon juice. Very dry, with mouth puckering acidity and a soft mousse. Medium length finish ending on notes of lemon and tart green apple. Rather simple and a bit dilute, with unbalanced overwhelming acidity. Not sure of the disgorgement date for this bottle, but this would benefit from some bottle age to smooth the edges. OK

White - Sparkling
N.V. Lanson Champagne Extra Age Brut France, Champagne
Tons of fresh lemon on the nose, along with tart red apples, caramel, and a touch of orange peel. Plenty of lemon follows through to the palate, along with lots of green apple, lime zest, and some toffee. Plenty of firm acidity, with a medium length finish ending on green apples. This is much richer and complex than the black label, and certainly much more interesting. Good+

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Lanson Champagne Brut Rosé Rose Label France, Champagne
Quite restrained on the nose giving off aromas of fresh strawberries and cranberries. Very elegant on the palate with flavors of field strawberries, tart lemon, and some floral notes. Quite dry, with plenty of crisp acidity. Short length finish ending on notes of fresh lemon and cranberry. This was much more acidic and tart than the last time I tasted this, and lacking the richness of the previous bottle. Good.
Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Lanson Champagne Extra Age Brut Rosé France, Champagne
Nice richness on the nose, showcasing strawberry jam, caramel, toasty yeast, and some nice floral notes. Crisp tart strawberry on the palate, along with green apple and rich caramel. Nice moderate acidity with a medium length finish ending on notes of field strawberries. The extra age has really done this well. Nice richness, some aged characteristics on both the nose and palate, and balanced acidity bring this all together. Good+.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

White - Sparkling
2002 Lanson Champagne Gold Label Brut France, Champagne
Nice nose displaying baked red apples, rich caramel, and some lemon zest. More rich red apples on the palate along with plenty of fresh lemon juice, Bartlett pears, and tart green apple skins. Lots of crisp acidity, with a medium length finish ending on notes of lemon and red apples. This was quite good, rich, full, with balanced acidity. Good+.

White - Sparkling
1976 Lanson Champagne Brut Vintage Collection France, Champagne
Great nose showing plenty of richness in the form of oxidized red apples, toffee, crushed nuts, and a hint of lime zest. Oxidized baked red apple skins on the palate, along with roasted cashews, fresh lemon, creamy caramel, and some crisp minerality. Nice firm acidity helps round this out, with a long length finish ending on notes of baked red apples and caramel. Nice freshness for a wine of this age along with some good richness and mouth feel, while still showing plenty of upside. Very good.
