Served blind. Color like a 40-year old auslese, I commented initially. More old riesling on the nose, fresh, orange peel, camphor; fresh, linear, might have had some RS when it was young. Guessed Spätlese 70’s.

Served blind. Lots of brown, dark, short brim; masses of forest floor, complex, some plum, earthy; fine acidity, long, still some tannins, wonderful finish. I wasn’t even in Burgundy. Extrordinary for a village. After some hours it had deteriorated considerably.

Served blind. Spicy, actually some forest floor/gamey notes; fresh, albeit slightly warmish fruit, structured. I was definitely in Burgundy.

BN fill. Fairly developed color; forest floor, acid and bonfire smoke; long and fresh, some sweetness, complex, rounded and pleasing. At peak.

BN fill. Dark and not much development on color; Herbal, deep dark fruit, ash; Lots of power, structured and tannic, ash again, dark berries, dark chocolate. This was pop-and-pour. My bad. After several hours in the glass a slight sweetness emerged. Still a bit too young.

Maderized nose, plum leaning towards prunes; better in the mouth, fresh and long, toffee.

Served blind. Light color, heavy Pinot scent; fine depth, spicy, rasberries, fresh, moderate tannins. Lacking a bit in depth. Most of us were in Chambolle.

Served blind. Hasty notes: a wine with certain complexity, long and fresh. Very good QPR.

A bit anonymous smell, some plum and cherries, bonfire; fresh, but shortish, lots of tannin, blue fruit. Definite sweetness. I was never in Piemonte. Perhaps some heat damage or premature development – much more developed than should be expected.

Wonderful depth and complexity to the smell, some orange peel, intriguing, some wax; intense and very fresh, merely moderate plus sweetness, spicy, lots of orange, structured and obviously very young.

Brown sugar, fresh; more burned sugar, but also complex and deep, intense wine. Bottle had been open for 2-3 weeks.
