2009 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Concentrated rasberry and plum. Full-bodied, pure and dense fruit-attack, don't have to bother with oaky notes. (I am always amazed how young CdP-s can achive serious depth depending on the concentration of primary fruits.) Mid-plus tannins, very fine grained and absolutely well-integrated, ripe and friendly acidity. Not incredibly focused, but has good amount of material in the midpalate, and the whole wine is very rounded and very fun.

2007 Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Safres France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
90 points
Plum-jam, clove, bottle-aging spiciness. Full-bodied, concentrated flavours with dried plum, sweet spices, burnt sugar. Densely textured midpalate, fine tannic and acidic grip, pretty long finish. Very good wine indeed, all the "problem", that tasted head to head with the same year's Les Quartz, that showed much more freshness and power.

2007 Le Clos du Caillou Châteauneuf-du-Pape Domaine du Caillou Les Quartz France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
93 points
Deep and complex nose with plum, rasberry, black cherry, coctail cherry, some fine spiciness and herbs. Full-bodied in the mouth. Very concentrated super-ripe fruit-savours but not in a popular-sweetish style, its long developing delivers finesse and elegance. Solid structure with lots of ripe but well integrated tannins, and pretty tight acidity. The density doesn't show fading in the midpalate, going for an impressive long finish with determined focus and drive. Still youngish, but plenty of power. Classy CdP. 93-94

2005 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
94 points
Super-complex nose. Dusty-dry black fruits, blackberry, black cherry, quality toastiness, truffle, forrest mushrooms, tobacco, dried blue flowers, very fine leather, noble bottle-aging notes. Full-bodied, but not weighty. Dry, well-proportioned mouthfeel, the layers of the flavours just follow each other. Solid structure, lots of tight, but superior quality tannins and acids. Very precise focus, really long finish showing new impulses again and again. Very young, but very serious. 94-95
