Introduction

Dinner with SHG and DMM

Flight 1 (7 notes)

Rosé - Sparkling
1999 Pol Roger Champagne Brut Rosé France, Champagne
90 points
Consistent with previous notes. Excellent.
White - Sparkling
N.V. Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée France, Champagne
92 points
No formal notes. Cellared around 5-6 years and showing beautifully. Lots of biscuit and citrus with a rich and creamy mouthfeel. Soft mousse with great acid and minerality. Drinking well but more to come with a few more years I think. Excellent. 92+
White
2008 Louis Carillon Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
91 points
No formal notes. This was excellent. Not as lively and tension/energy filled as the bottle I had back on 6/19/2012, but this was much closer to that bottle than the advanced bottle I had earlier this year. When this wine is showing well, it's really good. Excellent.
Red
2005 Antonin Guyon Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
90 points
No formal notes. This has settled down a bit since the last bottle I had 3 years ago. Still young but expressive on the nose with floral and darker red pinot fruit. Palate still quite tight with lots of structure. Needs at least 5-7 years. Lots of potential. Excellent. 90+
Red
2000 Aurelio Settimo Barolo Rocche Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
89 points
No formal notes. This showed well, but not as good as the 11/20/2011 bottle (though much better than my last bottle). Very good.
Red
2000 Beni di Batasiolo Barolo Vigneto Boscareto Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
87 points
No formal notes. Disappointing. Not even close to the magic of last time.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2003 Chateau Dereszla Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos Hungary, Tokaji
91 points
Consistent with previous notes. Excellent.
