Flight 1 (2 notes)

White - Sparkling
2000 Pierre Péters Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Speciale Blanc de Blancs Les Chetillons France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
93 points
Impressively intense green apple nose with yeast and floral notes.
Equally impressive palate with plenty of fresh and acidic green apples and freshly baked bread.
Huge acidity and overall a very lovely wine!
White - Sparkling
1999 Pierre Péters Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Speciale Blanc de Blancs Les Chetillons France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
92 points
Kind of funky nose with chicken broth, coffee grinds, seaweed, sea water and sulfur (gun powder).
A solid palate with both green and red apples with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Still quite fresh palate but the fruit is somewhat compact and dense.

Flight 2 (1 note)

Red
1953 Clos Beauregard France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
84 points
Nose: burnt coffee, cola, brown sugar. Just old.
Palate: No fruit left but still a little acidity. Coffee and chestnut, burnt rubber.
Still a drinkable wine but clearly too old.

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
1989 Château La Conseillante France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
95 points
A lovely nose consisting of sweet and elegant red currants, strawberries with a hint of leaves/bush. The nose also has a hint of vanilla and barnyard.
Pretty on the palate as well with a fresh strawberrry/cherry fruit and a medium long aftertaste that is quite tannic. There is plenty of complex green herbs and a barnyard like impression.
Still quite fresh and a good structure and a wine that will just improve.

Flight 4 (1 note)

Red
2006 Terre di Leone Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
94 points
Quite heavy on the nose yielding boiled raspberries, a hint of vanilla and even a little black currant fruit.
Powerful cherry fruit on the palate but only medium sweet which is quite nice and makes the wines seem quite fresh.
There is also a lovely and refreshing taste of dried flowers on the palate which really lifts the whole impression.
Overall a great, semi-traditional, yount wine with plenty of muscles but still with a lot of drinkability.
Definitely also a wine that would improve with some age!
94-95p

Flight 5 (1 note)

Red
1989 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
95 points
Initially mostly mushrooms, iron and rust on the nose but with some air it showed lovely hints of black currant and barnyard.
Still a young wine on the palate with lots of black currant fruit and a little iron and lead.
The fruit is still quite intense with a lovely aged meat hint.
This was definitely a wine that changed a lot over with a couple of hours of air.
Initially it was lacking in depth but with some air it really put on a lot of weight

Flight 6 (2 notes)

White - Sparkling
2002 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut France, Champagne
96 points
Expressive nose with baguette, green apples, hazelnut and a touch of butter. Plenty of exotic fruits also like mango and peach.
Very exotic on the palate with lots of flavor depth and intensity. Plenty of pineapple and rye bread.
White - Sparkling
2004 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut France, Champagne
97 points
Very young yeasty nose with harsh fresh green apples. Seems very closed down and has some gun powder and black pepper.
Hard and reluctant on the palate with immature green apples. Huge intensity and just a very that I think will turn out really well!

White - Sweet/Dessert
2008 Donnafugata Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryé Italy, Sicily, Passito di Pantelleria
92 points
Heavy nose with apricot jam and vanilla.
Lots of apricot sweetness on the palate and loads of vanilla but also some orange flavors.

Flight 8 (1 note)

Red - Fortified
2007 Fonseca Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
95 points
Seems very closed on the nose with mostly black currant fruit and vanilla.
Concentrated black currant palate which seems young and creamy. Also showing some black pepper, dirt and a little lavender.
Quite lovely and delicious with lots of acidity and tannins. Great young wine.
