Still plenty of colour, a little cloudy.
Muted stewed fruit on the nose, with some development notes.
Juicy and complex, liquorice with some fruit, delicious but not going much further.

Deep claret, almost youthful looking.
Delicious nose, delicate poached fruit, slightly minty.
Fruity attack, balanced with a smooth mid palate, fruit in the finish, very long.

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
1997 Château Caronne Ste. Gemme France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
86 points
Medium aged look.
Developed nose, some fruit eventually.
This tastes old, prunes and baked cherries, quite tannic, an interesting wine.

Flight 4 (1 note)

Red
1989 Château Cissac France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
89 points
Still plenty of colour, just opaque.
Age on the nose.
Still quite austere, mineral notes over fruit, still a few years of development to come.

Flight 5 (1 note)

Red
1989 Château Bel-Air Lagrave France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Moulis en Médoc
86 points
Plenty of colour, just opaque.
Delicate nose, vegetal with some fruity notes, interesting.
Earthy fruit, a developed taste, sweet fruit in the mid palate, reasonable length.

Flight 6 (1 note)

Red
1995 Château Haut-Batailley France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
91 points
Deep claret with age showing at the rim.
Sweet vanilla nose, with delicate fruity notes.
Delicious! Fruity, balanced, smooth, plenty to come as it continues to age.

Flight 7 (1 note)

Red
1993 Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
92 points
Pretty youthful looking for a 21-year-old.
Complex nose, sweet, vegetal with slightly fruity notes.
A very youthful taste, chewy tannins but this is a classy wine and will age beautifully, at present the wood dominates the fruit.

Flight 8 (1 note)

Red
1990 Les Forts de Latour France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
94 points
Mahogany.
Gorgeous nose, no fruit but so much else, sweetness, chocolate, toffee.
Lovely juicy attack, smooth, ripe tannins, very long, a stunning wine - and so much to come.
