Flight 1 (1 note)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Champagne Lallier Champagne Grand Cru Grande Réserve France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

Nice everyday champagne. Lemony, broad on the palate, seemed that the dosage is on the high side given the current trends. Will not steal attention from other things.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
1971 Tavares & Rodrigues Colares Reserva Portugal, Lisboa, Colares
86 points
Rather clear, see-through colour, almost no sediments. Brickish hue, but age of wine not evident from colour. Nose starts off with notes of damp basement, but they wiff off with air. There's some black pepper, notes of sweet madeirisation, some bramble berries. Body is relatively light, as it only has ~11.5% alc, but wine seems hard and solid, palate mirrors the nose, everything is well integrated. It requires time to open up. Quite nice.
Red
1970 Antonio Bernardino Paulo da Silva Colares Chitas Reserva Velho Portugal, Lisboa, Colares
89 points
This Colares had lighter colour and was softer and better balanced overall. No notes of old basement, but it smelled of ripe cranberries, blood, with air there appeared coffee and charcoal and finally some beeswax aromas. Soft, caressing palate, tannin and accidity still there, but much integrated. Very good and most imortantly true to the style.

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
1994 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
91 points
Perfect bottle, that left the Jaboulet cellar in Feb 2014, the cork was in perfect condition, like you get when opening a 2-3 y.o wine, quite likely it was recorked in the cellars prior to selling.
Lots of things going on in this bottle. Sweet red berries, very ripe, spices and even a floral element, with time it developped a pleasant note of smoked sausage, fat sausage meet, also some olive. Opulent palate and rather sweet finish. Overall even though approaching maturity I would hold the bottles from good cellars for some more years, I believe it will get better when gaining some more tertiary elements. Excellent.
