Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2004 Benoit Ente Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières En la Richarde France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
92 points
Round and fruity, some toasty notes, vanilla, butter and a rather discrete acidity. A broad wine with much finesse.
Red
1988 Domaine Jamet Côte-Rôtie France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
93 points
The color is still very dark. Archetypal animalistic nose, but the wine is very , very closed - popped and poured, it was diffecult to comprehend at first; it grew enormously in the glass and find the elegant expression of an aging cote-rôtie with leather, dark olives etc. Impressive wine.
Red
2001 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Riserva Rabajà Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco
96 points
Still young and crisp with solid tannins and the tight dry style combined with small red berries and a sigh floral character . Nebbiolo of the old school, very clean, elegant and supple . Recognizable as Piedmont, guessed as Giacosa - but I thought it was barolo.
Red
2005 Gros Frère et Sœur Richebourg France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Richebourg Grand Cru
92 points
"Il faut être absolument moderne!" - almost covered with wood, it seems, and closed, as is the vintage nature. Great wine in spe, it is very conceivable , but right now wrapped in baby fat.

White
2007 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
92 points
This caused me great difficulty to try and guess - and it's not the first time with Lafon. That it was white Burgundy was obvious, but the combination of butter, bruised apple, hints of smoke and a mineral nerve, sent me to Puligny, not to Meursault - but probably should have sent me to Lafon. Too young , in my opinion.
