Light gold, flashes of green. Nose of apples and white flowers. Surprisingly fresh still. Lime, slight petrol, light honey, green apples and elderflower. Good acidity. Clean. Medium length. Lovely aperitif.

Very clean bottle. Surprisingly fresh and clean. Nose of honeydew melon and lemon. Bit of vanilla. Fine body, full but not too rich. Great acidity. Some oatmeal, honey too. Good length. Most enjoyable if not quite hitting the very top heights.

One of the recent bottles. Great cork. Ruby, fading to a mahogany tone. Marinated black cherries, warm spices such as clove or cinnamon, some black berry fruits, smoke and cured meats. Fabulous complexity. Well resolved tannins. Lacked a bit of length or concentration compared with the best CdP vintages perhaps. Still, a lovely drink.

Lovely. Into full maturity. Colour of dark mahogany. Deep bitter cherries, tobacco, roses. Still some fruit but loads of just lovely tertiary flavours. Savoury. Lovely velvet tannins. Good acidity, great length. Drinking very well right now. Just a bit fresher than recent bottle
White - Sweet/Dessert
2000 Zind-Humbrecht Tokay Pinot Gris Clos Jebsal Sélection de Grains Nobles France, Alsace

Yes, this really is that good as other recent notes suggested. Deep burnished gold. Spices, apricot preserves, caramel, honey. Richly textured. Fabulous length. Lick of acidity to keep things honest. Sheer hedonistic joy. Would happily drink this as my last mouthful. No idea how long it will go on for but just fabulous now. Perfect with an apple and amaretto biscuit tart.

Closing

Great success this year. All wines in a good place, the Alsace SGN was indeed outstanding. Food worked well too.
