Rosé - Sparkling
2009 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Grand Cellier Rubis France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Very unique color, a burnt orange. Definitely not your typical rosé. Lychee nut and gentle bread aroma. Mild fruit flavors and high acidity. This didn't suck with the crab cakes with orange marmalade sauce.
White
2014 Domaine de la Pépière Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie Vieilles Vignes Clos des Briords France, Loire Valley, Pays Nantais, Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine sur lie
The wine is light yellow color. Sweet nose. Bright acid, lime, lemon rind and mouthwatering. I tried the '12 vintage a few months ago and was taken aback by the level of complexity. This vintage shows all the same characteristics. An amazing QPR for an extremely high quality wine. I bought 5 bottles and then let Sean take two of them when he inquired, share and share alike.

White - Sparkling
2008 André Clouet Champagne Brut Millésimé France, Champagne
This bubbly isn't stylistically classic but I enjoyed because it is slightly different. The bubbles are extremely fine and it influences the mouthfeel as there is a density to the wine that is more like a still and it doesn't fizz up in your mouth. Strong bread flavor and citrus. Long finish.
White
2013 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Medium plus weight, almost heavy. Sweet ripe pears nose, lemon and apple flavors. A little hole in the mid palate. Very accessible right now.
Red
2014 Kutch Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
Just got a smaller taster from a bottle open the night before. Lots of stem here, a lot. Red berry fruit flavors and a bitter ending. It's OK but I didn't get excited and it probably requires food.
Red
2013 Big Basin Vineyards Pinot Noir Alfaro Family Vineyard USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
Served "kind of" blind. Guessed Santa Cruz pinot noir hen Frank hinted that I've had the wine before. Then Steve and I debated whether it's Rhys or Big Basin based on FMIII cellar. I hung with Big Basin because I didn't get the crazy nose that a few of the recent Rhys have showed. Light cranberry color and flavor. Just a beautiful, feminine, throughly enjoyable glass of wine.
Red
2013 Copain Pinot Noir Monument Tree USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
Very smokey nose, like something you'd find a big Syrah. I was a bit of a distraction and the palate showed lots of highly toasted oak. Nice cherry and berry flavors but smokey at the end.

The last bottle, which I really enjoyed, didn't look like this at all but it had been open a number of days. I guess the advice here is decant the night before unless you like the smokey BBQ effect.

1996 Dehlinger Pinot Noir Estate USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
Blind. Guess mid '90's Italian Nebbiolo in a less ripe vintage. Well... Not so much. It's brutally challenging tasting blind from Chris' cellar because it's so broad and deep. He'll go anywhere. Light cherry, medium/- weight. Had a mature aspect although not quite leather. Really like this one, thanks.

1996 Mount Eden Vineyards Pinot Noir USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
Blind. Guessed Sangiovese from Italy, probably mid 2000's. Man, is this wine fresh, amazing. The cherry fruit is still bright and youthful. There's a little barnyard which led me down the old world path. Even after the wine was revealed I was fairly happy with my guess of Sangiovese.
Red
2005 Stags' Leap Winery Petite Sirah USA, California, Napa Valley
At 10 years old this is starting to age, in fact, I'd recommend drinking them now. This was only bottle. Color is fading a bit and doesn't have that typical petite Syrah saturation. Tannins are integrated much less aggressive. Rustic in nature. OK but not a standout.
