Flight 1 - Whites (2 notes)

White
2013 Christophe et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Magnum. Pale greenish. Typical lemon/saline nose. Medium weight. Still a bit young and raw.
White
2004 François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Light yellow, pristine appearance for this age. Amazing essential Chablis nose of crushed oyster shell, white flowers, and citrus. Light weight and absolutely delicate for a Raveneau. Taut, crisp, great acidity, moderate finish. This is all 2004 and much less of the Raveneau beeswax and hazelnut, although maybe that will come with more age. Beautiful and quite young.

Flight 2 - Rosé (1 note)

Rosé
2014 Domaine du Gros 'Noré Bandol Rosé France, Provence, Bandol
Magnum. Very pale pink. Glyceral feel, dry red fruit, powerful and clinging.

Flight 3 - Reds (4 notes)

Red
2011 Giuseppe Quintarelli Primofiore Veneto IGT Italy, Veneto, Veneto IGT
Magnum. Ruby. Lush dark fruit and anise, a little exotic. Excellent.
Red
2005 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Fairly primary looking. Tobacco leaf and a touch of superripeness. Pretty classic and backward on the palate with dark fruit and no heat. Roundly tannic finish. First time tasted in 6 years, and it seems to be developing very slowly and very well.

Red
2002 Couly-Dutheil Chinon Clos de l'Echo France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon
Magnum. Light red. Fragrant herbal tones without being overly pungent. Light, typical weight, dry, elegant, poised, and balanced. Close to its peak but at least out of this format, it will go on for some years. Has definitely improved and become more complete over the 6 years since last tasted.
Red
1998 Domaine du Clos de Tart Clos de Tart France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
Unevolved ruby. Fabulous aromatics-red fruits, pomegranate, toffee. Medium weight, sappy but awkward combination of fruit and structure now. The really good news is that it seems as though wood is not an issue at this point. If the palate resolves and becomes nearly as attractive as the nose, this has a chance to be really excellent with more time in bottle.

Thanks, Wayne. As always, interesting wines, terrific nibbles, and a convivial crowd.
