Introduction
Wines were tasted blind (brown bagged).
Flight 1 (6 notes)
Red
2012 Edmeades Winery Zinfandel Mendocino County
86 points
Light in color, minimal aroma and mild flavor - a meh zinfandel.
My 7th of 7, wife - 6th, group's 7th (last place). 6 last place votes.

2013 Carlisle Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard

A little harsh and over the top at this point.
Quite dark in color compared to the other zinfandels, with a lot of sweet fruit mixed with spices. Fairly tannic and somewhat tart.
This is the first time I've put a Carlisle in a blind tasting and I was quite surprised by the poor showing. Granted, this wine is quite young but it did have time open before the tasting.
My 5th place of 7 wines, wife - 6th, group - 6th (2 last place votes)

Wine C and G of the tasting (2 different people brought it).
Consistent.
Aromatic, with high amount of flavor & red fruit and a touch of spice. Fairly complex but seems to be a bit high alcohol.
Rated 91 pts (both bottles) by both my wife and I.
My #3 and #4 wines (out of 7), wife - #1 and #2. Group - tied for 2nd; 4th.

2013 Titus Zinfandel

An interesting zinfandel which stood out as the oddball in this tasting lineup as it didn't seem to taste like zinfandel.
Loads of spice and earth, a little anise/tobacco, but very little fruit.
This was a divisive wine, receiving both 3 first place votes but also 2 second to last place votes.
My #6 of 7 wines, wife #3, group's 1st place.

Red
2013 Bedrock Wine Co. Zinfandel Monte Rosso Vineyard

Dark, bold, moderate spice, and my wife thought the fruit seemed a bit tart.
A solid showing from the Bedrock, roundly besting the Carlisle Monte Rosso, at least per the group's palate.
My #1 wine out of 7, Wife - #4, group tied for 2nd (3 first place votes).
Me - 92 pts, Wife - 89/90 pts.
