Introduction

All wines were tasted fully blind.

Flight 1 (1 note)

White
2014 Dom Brial Côtes Catalanes Le Pot France, Languedoc Roussillon, Roussillon, Côtes Catalanes
81 points
A very aromatic muscatel bouquet. Same on the palate. Dry and simple with a firm amount of bitterness in the finish. Clean, but not a great pleasure.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
2002 Château Prieurè Borde-Rouge Corbières Le Jardin de Frederic France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Corbières
86 points
In the bouquet very ripe fruits, rust, iodine, tobacco and some faint leftover of cherries. On the palate cherries, sweet spices, herbs, some chocolate and a firm amount of acidity. Completely melted tannin. This is a basic wine of the domain and at this age quite impressive. Still alive and a pleasure. Completely ready now.
Red
2007 Domaine La Garrigue Vacqueyras France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Vacqueyras
In the bouquet still some cherries, herbs and spices, some vanilla and a touch of barnyard. On the palate red fruits, sweet spices, garrigue, dark fruits, cherries, a firm amount of acidity and soft tannin. So far so good, but overall the wine is less impressive and harmonious than some time ago. Even falling apart a bit. If you have any left; don’t wait too long. No score.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
2013 Henri Bourgeois Cabernet Franc Petit Bourgeois France, Loire Valley, Val de Loire
82 points
Very light purple red. In the bouquet raspberries, red cherries, a bit lactic and also some barnyard impressions. On the palate first red fruits, then cherries and dark fruits, some spiciness, firm acidity and soft tannin. Quite basic wine which reminds a bit like Beaujolais.

Red
1996 Pierre-Jacques Druet Bourgueil Grand Mont France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Bourgueil
Mature bouquet with raisins, iodine, spiciness and rustic flavors. On the palate also quite mature with a lot of sweet spiciness, rust and chocolate, still some leftovers of dark forest fruits, medium plus acidity, some bitterness and drying tannin in the finish. A very mature wine, a bit past its prime, but still enjoyable. No score.

Flight 4 (3 notes)

Red
2011 Viña Perez Cruz Cabernet Sauvignon Single Collection Pircas de Liguai Chile, Maipo Valley
86 points
In the bouquet cherries and cassis, some herbs and spices, some red bell pepper and a bit creamy as well. On the palate creamy red berries, some spiciness and white pepper. Also some chocolate, ok acidity and round tannin. Ok, but not very impressive wine in this stage. Might need a few more years of ageing. 86 for tonight.
Red
2000 Château La Croix Canon France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Canon-Fronsac
87 points
Bouquet with still some red berries, herbs, raisins and leather. On the palate sweet spices, coffee, leather, chocolate, tobacco and a bit rustic. Ok acidity and soft tannin and completely ready now.
Red
2000 La Dame de Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
90 points
Beautiful and deep bouquet with sweet spices, vanilla of exclusive oak and still some cassis. On the palate soft and ripe dark and red berries, vanilla from beautiful oak, some herbs and spices and a bit rustic. Overall a beautiful wine which is completely ready now. No problem cellaring this for another 2 years if you have a perfect cellar. I was a bit surprised how mature this wine already was.

Flight 5 (2 notes)

Red
2003 Grangehurst Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve South Africa, Coastal Region, Stellenbosch
89 points
Beautiful bouquet with sweet and ripe berry fruits, some chocolate, beautiful oak and some mint. The same impressions on the palate, a lot of sweetness, but also good acidity. Full bodied and completely ready now.
Red
1989 Château Montus Madiran Cuvée Prestige France, Southwest France, Madiran
88 points
Very mature bouquet with currants and minerals. On the palate ripe berry fruits and plums. Also leather, chocolate and some mint. Firm acidity and the tannin is a bit drying. The wine is completely ready now.

Flight 6 (1 note)

Fruit/Vegetable Wine
N.V. Benoit Charbonneau Cidre Fermier Les Bruyères Carré France
Enormously bubbly. Apples and a bit rustic in the bouquet. On the palate apples and some pear and special acidity. The bottle was probably quite old and I didn’t particularly like it. No score.

Flight 7 (2 notes)

White
2005 Weingut Johann Peter Reinert Kanzemer Sonnenberg Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
88 points
The bouquet is not so very expressive but shows white fruits like apple and litchi, some apricots and minerals. On the palate some petrol, minerals, white fruits, not so much acidity and some sweetness. For a Grosses Gewächs the wine is not as dry as you expect it to be. Overall definitely a good wine.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2007 Thanisch & Son Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Auslese ** Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
88 points
Beautiful bouquet with flowers and minerals. On the palate white fruits, soft acidity and pleasant sweetness. A bit petrol as well. Really nice wine.

Flight 8 (2 notes)

White - Sweet/Dessert
1999 Château de Fesles Bonnezeaux France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Bonnezeaux
93 points
In the bouquet a lot of apricots, honey and botrytis. On the palate orange, caramel, coffee, nougat, a lot of concentrated sweetness, but also beautiful fresh acidity. Beautiful and harmonious wine. Ready now and the next few years.
White - Sweet/Dessert
1982 Château Le Fagé Monbazillac France, Southwest France, Dordogne, Monbazillac
Mature bouquet with polishing wax, oranges and butter candy. On the palate also very mature but there are still some apricots and orange peel. No score.

Flight 9 (1 note)

Red
2010 Celler Vall Llach Priorat Embruix Spain, Catalunya, Priorat
91 points
A beautiful tasting note by Huse. I have nothing to add, except that we tasted it from magnum and I think the wine will easily last until well into the 2020’s. 91+ for tonight.
