Flight 1 (27 notes)

Red
2014 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Tasting, brief note. All red fruit, very refined. Elegant tannins and mineral notes mostly near finish. VG for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Bright red berry and cherry on nose and palate with floral hints and subtle spice. Very long, textured. VG now, but texturally so nuanced that I'd hold it a decade to evolve and unfold, 92-94 point potential.
Red
2014 Gilbert et Christine Felettig Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits
Tasting, brief note. Fresh and bright red fruit-driven aromas. Similar flavors with mineral and tannic textures give a slightly rustic feel, but in a very iron-esque Chambolle character.
Red
2014 Gilbert et Christine Felettig Chambolle-Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Tasting, brief note. Similar to the Bourgogne, I like the nose > palate. Bright red fruit aromas, similar flavors with good mineral character but slightly short, drying finish. Good for its level. Cellar at least a few more years.
Red
2014 Gilbert et Christine Felettig Chambolle-Musigny Clos le Village France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Tasting, brief note. A step up vs the previous Chambolle, this has a similar red fruit profile with slightly more spice and also more silky tannins so a more balanced finish.
Red
2014 Gilbert et Christine Felettig Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Black and red fruit with good concentration giving an old vine character. Meaty in a style I would more associate with Gevrey. Good for its level.
Red
2014 Gilbert et Christine Felettig Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Lavrottes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Bright red fruit on nose and palate with mineral-driven textures to start, then rather firm finish, almost drying. Good enough for its level.
Red
2014 Gilbert et Christine Felettig Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Less bright aromatic start. Red berry and cherry flavors with better structural elegance and balance than the others in the lineup. Good for its level.
Red
2014 Gilbert et Christine Felettig Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Carrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Red fruit aromas with floral hints. Red cherry and berry flavors with lots of mineral textures, much like Lavrottes, but once again very firm tannins. Good concentration., good potential, but prob needs to 2024 forward.
Red
2014 Gilbert et Christine Felettig Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Best nose of the lineup with ripe fruit, floral and spice hints. Good fruit concentration but with a backward character that isn't helped by the firm structure. Again give this a decade+ in the cellar, but 90 point potential here.
Red
2014 Fougeray de Beauclair Bonnes Mares France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. From 100% MSD fruit. Lots of black cherry, protruding new oak spice and a firm, almost bitter finish. Not a personal favorite today.
Red
2014 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Bourgogne France, Burgundy, Bourgogne
Tasting, brief note. Bright red, well balanced. Good+ for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Tasting, brief note. Ripe red and black cherry with spice and perfume hints and very good concentration. Finished with good minerality and elegant tannins for its level. Overal VG 89-90 point potential, but cellar for a few years.
Red
2014 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey St. Denis En la Rue de Vergy France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis
Tasting, brief note. Ripe black fruit with some spice hints. Moderate depth and length. Good for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey St. Denis Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis
Tasting, brief note. Slightly reductive aromatic start. Black and red cherry flavors with firm textures but good concentration for its level. Cellar 2-5+ years, with VG 89-91 point potential from there.
Red
2014 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Les Faconnières France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Bright red berries, floral, with plenty of savory spice. Good concentration and depth, some emerging nuance. Elongating finish. Good now, better 2024 forward, with 92-93 point potential.
Red
2014 Domaine Lignier-Michelot Clos de la Roche France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Great aromas showing black berries, savory spice. Similar flavors, just slightly more restrained with moderate depth. This is good+ for its level, also 92-93 point potential and should well young for its level, probably as early as 2022.
Red
2014 Gérard Raphet Morey St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis
Tasting, brief note. Very pleasant and enjoyable Pinot Noir, I just oddly found this a little modern styled and non-descript with little sense of terroir.
Red
2014 Gérard Raphet Chambolle-Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Tasting, brief note. Equally enjoyable as the MSD, but here I found Chambolle character, minerality and bright, crunchy fruit. Good for its level.
Red
2014 Gérard Raphet Clos de la Roche France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Black berries on nose with spring flowers, woodsy spice and some new oak that needs a little more time to integrate. Very good black and red berry flavors that is well balanced with good length. VG 92-93 point potential, probably nicely approachable in just 5 years.
Red
2011 Gérard Raphet Clos de la Roche France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Tasting, brief note. Not a personal favorite today. A bitterness I had trouble getting past.
Red
2014 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Chambolle-Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Tasting, brief note. Good red berries on nose and palate balanced nicely through middle, then finishing slightly firm for now. Cellar for a few years, then good potential for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Morey St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis
Slightly, brief note. Both red and black fruit with rounder textures vs the Chambolle. Better overall with good length and a nicely persistent finish. Good+ for its level.
Red
2014 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru La Combe d'Orveau France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. All red fruit aromas and flavors with good concentration. Good length with a burst of energy on finish. Good+ for its level, 90-91 point potential.
Red
2013 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru La Combe d'Orveau France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Slightly reductive start. All red fruit with moderate depth, better textures. Not as interesting as the 2014.
Red
2014 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Morey St. Denis 1er Cru La Riotte France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Bright red fruit, floral notes and some roasted meat hints. Very well balanced already with a concentration I like a lot. Cellar for a few more years, then should drink very well from 2020 forward. 90-92 point potential. My favorite of the lineup.
Red
2013 Domaine Taupenot-Merme Morey St. Denis 1er Cru La Riotte France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Tasting, brief note. Similar profile to the 2014 but with less intensity or depth. Good for its level.
