Flight 1 (3 notes)

White
2011 Coche-Dury Bourgogne Blanc France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
91 points
Distinctive matchstick nose, herbs and a hint of crème patissière, wood spice and minerals, lovely complexity and depth; wonderfully silky palate, savoury character, seamless and rounded; complete finish, citrus and ripe green apple, very good length.
Red
2011 Pieve Santa Restituta (Gaja) Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
92 points
Wonderful mineral depth and spicy warmth on the expressive and transparent nose, glossy black cherries and a hint of chocolate; mouthfilling but bright palate, gentle oak tannins, fresh and energetic, grippy skin phenolics; excellent resonance on the finish, beautifully integrated oak, very good length.

2011 Pieve Santa Restituta (Gaja) Brunello di Montalcino Rennina Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
93 points
Compared to the standard cuvée which preceded it, this has more density, more layers and more depth, but also more elegance and floral lift; tightly wound, velvety and fresh, powdery tannins; beautifully balanced and long. Excellent.
