Introduction

I samband med bokrelease av Britt och Per Karlssons nya bok "Champagne, vinet och odlarna" så fanns det möjlighet att prova några av champagner från några av odlarna i boken.

Flight 1 (3 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Doyard-Mahé Champagne Carte d'Or Brut France, Champagne
86 points
(Disgorged in 2016, base year 2010, 100% Chardonnay, Dosage 10 gr/L, from magnum bottle) Light yellow colour with a nose showing a dash of rubber, almonds, minerals and a hint of herbs. Palate show a youthfulness but with smooth acidity and a round mineral driven finish. Very well integrated dosage in this cuvée, but other than that this assemblage is dominated by its softer palate and nothing that wakes my interest.
White - Sparkling
N.V. Alexandre Penet Champagne Extra Brut France, Champagne
88 points
(Disgorged in November 28th 2016, base year 2011, 20% Pinot Noir, 60% Pinot Meunier, 20% Chardonnay, Dosage 6 gr/L) Light yellow colour with a distinct nose showing lime and exotic fruits. Palate is showing fresh acidity and herbal notes on the finish. This was a very pleasant cuvée with good personality that I could try again. Probably even better with a couple of years of extra cellaring!
White - Sparkling
N.V. Diebolt-Vallois Champagne Cuvée Prestige Blanc de Blancs France, Champagne
89 points
(Disgorged in 2016) Very light yellow colour with a flowery nose filled with minerals and raspberries in a very youthful way. Palate is very creamy and at the same time very acidic. The finish is an explosion of flowers and tutti-frutti. This is very nice, but needs some extra post-disgorgement time to show its best. Best with 2-5 years of extra cellaring.
