Flight 1 (5 notes)

White - Sparkling
1999 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
94 points
Incredible, but lacking the creaminess of 96 or the zingy character of the 2002. A little bit restrained - really wish it would go for longer. Drinking pretty well now, but can imagine it could use another few years to let some of the complexity out. Side note: I don't know that I've ever not enjoyed CdC?
White
1962 Jean Bourdy Chardonnay Côtes du Jura France, Jura, Côtes du Jura
87 points
Very interesting, but not as enjoyable as it was interesting. Really nutty and oxidative but with an undertone of fresh acidity. This may be the oldest bottle of juice i've ever had?

Red
1993 Faiveley Mazis-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru
92 points
Drinking well. Big. Still a good amount of fruit, but with secondary earthy and spice characteristics starting to show.

Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Jacques Selosse Champagne Brut Rosé France, Champagne
94 points
A remarkable wine. Big. Like really big. And wide. Like oversized-trailer wide. And crunchy. First time trying it - and it's exactly what I'd expect after I heard "Selosse makes a Rose". Can't wait to revisit with more time. (Disgorged July 27, 2014 - thanks @acyso!)

White
2009 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
93 points
Incredible, clean, easy drinking, with muted fruit (peach and lime - not so zingy) and muted oak. Not sure I understand the current market for this stuff, but certainly glad to have purchased it.
