Introduction

A random night out at Fakatselis house

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2003 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
90 points
Medium intensity, beautiful ripe stone fruit, peach, apricot, glycerine, nutty, floral notes, earthy too.
In the palate, the wine shows medium body, honey, nutty, almond, strangely pronounced acidity, med finish.
Feels better in the nose than the palate
Red
2004 Château La Croix Pomerol France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
88 points
Med intensity, full earthy, ripe black fruit, slightly leafy, herbal, wouldn't say Pomerol, tobacco, cigar box and olive.
The palate shows the same profile, earthy and gamey, nutty and "dusty", tannins melted away, light body and short finish
Red
2009 Dulcinea Santos Ferreira Bairrada Sidónio de Sousa Garrafeira Last Edition Old Vines Figueira da Costa Portugal, Beiras, Bairrada
89 points
Very dense, full ripe fruit, black cherries, floral with a handful of dried herbs like thyme sitting right in the middle.
In the palate, the wine is rich, dense, dry tannins, rich oak, ripe black fruit, black olive, med body and intensity, feels very fresh, inky, med finish, mineral.
Very interesting
Red
2014 Hessische Staatsweingüter Kloster Eberbach Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Spätburgunder Germany, Rheingau
88 points
Light to med intensity, ripe red fruits, slightly herbal, bit gamey, earthy and smoky. The palate is clean, showing red fruit, cherry, currant, leafy, light tannins, earthy, nutty bits, med acidity, med finish. Easy to drink not much complexity but delightful
White
2007 Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
93 points
Explosive nose, mineral, citrus, tropical notes, smoke, nutty, med to high intensity.
The palate shows med to high intensity, nutty, citrus, lime, ripe tropical fruit, med acidity, linear rather than broad, med to long finish.
Outstanding
Red
2013 Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
94 points
Bright and clear character, a wide range of ripe red small fruits, refreshing herbal notes, minty, quite young, high intensity.
The palate is equally elegant, smooth, clear red fruit again, minty freshness, silky tannins, med body, refreshing acidity, med finish. If you can keep your hands away from the glass for a bit more time you get rewarded with a more mouthwatering tasty wine, showing elevated notes of nuts and smoke.
Outstanding quality, a truly beautiful wine
