Introduction
A sampling of Trimbach (Alsace) wines.
Flight 1 (9 notes)
White
2002 Trimbach Pinot Blanc
93 points
Extremely floral bouquet. Full bodied, steely, gorgeous Alsace. Great fruit/acid balance. Yum.
White
2001 Trimbach Pinot Gris Reserve
93 points
The nose was slow to open, but quite nice. Very full bodied, terrific balance. Elegant. Perhaps just a touch alcoholic at the end?
White
1999 Trimbach Pinot Gris Réserve Personnelle
92 points
Very apple-y nose. Light on its feet, but good balance. Elegance rather than power.
White
2002 Trimbach Riesling
91 points
Full bodied, slightly sweet in the mouth. Decent fruit, good minerality. A nice Alsace.
White
1999 Trimbach Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile
92 points
Strong petrol aroma on the nose, but enough fruit to pull it off. Dry and steely, with tart fruit and good acidity. A fun wine to taste.
White
1997 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune
93 points
Terrific fruity aroma, subdued fruit on the palate. Excellent balance. Lovely wine.
White
2002 Trimbach Gewurztraminer
91 points
Spicy, floral bouquet. Good body, nice balance. Enjoyable wine.
White
1999 Trimbach Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre
89 points
High-toned fruity aromas, a nose to get lost in. Sweet and spicy, a touch cloying.
White
1998 Trimbach Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs de Ribeaupierre
90 points
Fruity nose with a hint of...petrol? Very difficult to place. Sweet in the mouth, low acid, good spice.
Closing
A lovely group of wines, especially the Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris.
