Flight 1 (2 notes)

White
2012 Kongsgaard Chardonnay USA, California, Napa Valley
94 points
Lovely and juicy with plenty of fruit and lots of vanilla.
Delicious wine!
White
2004 Kongsgaard Chardonnay The Judge USA, California, Napa Valley
94 points
Mature and still quite fresh with nice flavors of candied melon.
Opens up very nicely in the glass! Lovely wine and it is a privilege to taste the first vintage of this wine!

Flight 2 (1 note)

Rosé
2016 Pop 300 Pinot Noir Rosé USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
86 points
Juicy strawberry wtih a dry finish. The is however something that is a bit strange flavor-wise that I can't put my finger on. Does not seem defective.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
1998 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Central Coast USA, California, Central Coast
93 points
Charming and complex with fresh flavors of strawberry, coffee and some sewer/mushrooms (wet forest floor).
Red
2005 Fess Parker Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley
92 points
Juicy strawberry and a compact structure. The alcohol is perhaps dominating a bit too much. 92-93p.

Flight 4 (1 note)

Red
1976 Sebastiani Vineyards & Winery Zinfandel Proprietor's Reserve USA, California, Sonoma County
86 points
Very old and dusty but still has a touch of fruit left.
It is not very good, just special and old.

Flight 5 (3 notes)

Red
1991 Opus One USA, California, Napa Valley
95 points
Lots of young and fresh black currant fruit but it does seem a bit closed.
Still seems very young and it is quite impressive. Perhaps lacks some lenght in the aftertaste.
Red
2004 Abreu Madrona Ranch USA, California, Napa Valley
94 points
Juicy blackberry fruit with cocoa and lots of vanilla. The tannins are unfortunately very hash and unforgiving which really ruins the "pleasure".
Highly disappointing to me that this wine didn't perform better than this. 94+

Red
1998 Harlan Estate USA, California, Napa Valley
96 points
There is plenty of fresh black currant fruit with an impressive acidity and long aftertaste.
This wine is all about a very impressive balance. Great stuff!

Flight 6 (2 notes)

Red
2005 Alban Vineyards Syrah Lorraine USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley
98 points
Very juicy and packed with dark sweet fruit. Still, it has a lot of complexity showing black currants, tobacco, coffee and off course vanilla.
A very intense wine and even though it is packed with flavor there is still an acceptable balance. Insane wine!

Red
2006 Alban Vineyards Syrah Seymour's Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Edna Valley
98 points
Very powerful and compact and jammy fruit. Even though there is lots of sweetness and alcohol the high acidity is able to keep everything in a somewhat balance.
There is actually also some complexity showing nice behind all the fruit. There is a lovely floral note that impresses mixed with the vanilla and toasted notes. In my opinion, this is a sexy wine that just maybe has gone slightly overboard on the alcohol but the flavors, complexity and balance is impressive.
There is lots to love and hate in this wine depending on preferences. But I love it!

Red
2009 Sine Qua Non Syrah This is Not An Exit Eleven Confessions Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills
99 points
Sweet and very intense black currant/plum fruit with an impeccable balance. There are some hints of chocolate and vanilla but not in an overdone fashion.
There is so much lightness and freshness that together with the intensity, makes this such an impressive wine. Simply, this is just a beautiful wine!

Red
2008 Cayuse Tempranillo Impulsivo En Chamberlin Vineyard USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Walla Walla Valley
98 points
Very young and fresh black currant fruit. Lovely fine-grained tannins and a lovely acidity.
It is however quite special, in the Cayuse way, and has the lovely "funk" to it, like sewer, stable, wet hay :-)
Red
2010 Sine Qua Non Grenache Stockholm Syndrome Eleven Confessions Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills
100 points
This is just an amazing wine. There are so much intensity and flavor depth while everything is just kept in a perfect balance with an insanely long aftertaste.
Exceptional flavors of intense black fruit, coffe, blackberry liqueur, smokey incense and earth.
Just like with the Syrah version, this Grenache truly shows what SQN can achieve in very special years.

Flight 8 (3 notes)

Red
2012 Vineyard 29 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena
97 points
Juicy and very young blackberry fruit. Beautiful stuff!
Red
1997 Corison Cabernet Sauvignon Kronos Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley
95 points
A mature wine but still with lots of young and fresh Cabernet fruit. It still has lots of power but are showing mature notes of sewer and manure.
Beautiful wine!
Red
2005 BOND Pluribus USA, California, Napa Valley
97 points
Insanely young black currant fruit with lots of depth and intensity.
A stunning wine and I can't believe how young this still feels! Very impressive!
