Red
2016 Louis Latour Marsannay France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Marsannay
Traditional fermentation in open vats ff'd by 10-12 mos ageing in s/s vats.

N: Very slightly closed; Rasps, straws

P: LM, poss Lt, body; NICE frt met by some very, VERY finely tannic pucker which (though with a swtish bent) DOES pretty much extend through the LONG, ult pleasantly tannic finnish. Needs/DESERVES until Summer '19, then drinking for a couple of yrs more. My VG-, though I'd certainly NOT rule OUT improvement with cellaring. 91 pts ea WS & Suckling. [This vendor's $17.95 is the 2nd lowest price of wine-searcher's early June 2018 offerings.]
Red
2014 Pertimali (Livio Sassetti) Rosso di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino
Apparently only s/s: i.e., NO oak

N: Cherries, poss vanilla, with notes of earth

P: LM, poss Med, body; NICE frt met by a very, VERY finely tannic astringency with an underlying swtness which DOES accompany the tannins into & through the LONG finish. NEEDS into early '20, then drinking through its 10th -- IF the frt holds. 13.5% ABV; My VG- with potential for more IF... 92 pts Suckling, 88 WS, & 87 WE @ $30. [This vendor's $19.95 is ~ $4 < anyone else in wine-searcher's June 2018 listings.]
Red
2015 Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Vieilles Vignes La Louisiane France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas
N: Very slightly closed; Nice straws, rasps, with undertones of garrigue?

P: Med body; NICE frt met by puckerish astringency (yet with a sense of swtness) which NICELY evolves into a LONG, somewhat, yet sweetly, dustily tannic finnish. NEEDS into '20 min, then poss making its 10th? My VG/VG+. 95 pts ea Jeb Dunnuch & WA, 92-94 Vinous, & ***(*)/5* from John Livingstone-Learmouth. [This vendor's $26.95 is competitive pricing.]
Red
2015 La Bastide Blanche Bandol France, Provence, Bandol
Typically, 72% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, 6% Cinsualt, 1% Syrah, & 1% Carignan from 30 yr old vines grown in clay-limestone soil with cailloux

N: Closed, but seems ripe, jammy

P: Med body; Rndish entry with ALMOST swtish frt met by some puckerish astringency which DOES lose most of its tannins by the LONG, ult tangy/choc finish with notes of spice. Deserves/NEEDS until Summer '19, then drinking for 3-4 yrs more. 14.5% ABV; My VG/VG+. [As of June 2018 this vendor's $21.95 was ~ $1 < anyone else listed on wine-searcher.]
Red
2015 Chappellet Mountain Cuvée USA, California, Napa Valley
37% Merlot, 34% C.S., 11% Malbec, 11% Petit Verdot, & 7% C.F.; 14.5% ABV, TA – 0.61g/100ml, & pH – 3.68

N: Ripe berries, poss choc, with notes of pyrazines?

P: Med body; NICE, ALMOST swtish fr met by some finely tannic, puckerish astringency which DOES become "unoffensive" (because of the swtness?) by the LONG, pleasant finish. Approachable now, this DESERVES into early '19, then drinking for 3+ yrs more (assuming the potential swtness is not an issue). My VG/VG+. 91 pts & "Very highly recommended" CA Grapevine, and 89 pts WS. [While this vendor is now selling the '16 @ $26.95, as of June 2018 wine-searcher still showed 7 sources offering the '15 @ that or less.]
Red
2014 Elderton Shiraz Australia, South Australia, Barossa
Estate grown, 73% Nuriootpa, 24% Greenock, 3% Craneford, vines 21 - 122 years old.

N: Closed; Ripe berries, poss vanilla, with iron

P: LM, poss Med, body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by some puckerish astringency which loses most of its "punch" by the LONG, tangy/swt finish with still some traces of those very, VERY fine tannins. Needs/DESERVES until EARLY '19, then drinking for 3 yrs more. My VG/VG+. 94 pts James Halliday, 92 The Wine Front, & 91 Suckling. [This vendor's $19.95 puts it in the top 20% of those listed on wine-searcher as of June 2018.]
Red
2003 Dusted Valley Vintners Barrel Thief Red USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
THANK you for the opportunity to taste this, Esther!

N: A touch of oxidation; Earth, dried frts

P: Med, poss LM, body; Ok "frt" (along the lines of leather) met by some astringency which basically carries the rest of the LONG, structured finish with ULT a satisfying sensation as it remained on the palate. Pleasant enough, this is likely on the downside & should be consumed SOON with food. 13.8% ABV; My VG-.
Red
2011 Terrazze dell'Etna Etna Carusu Italy, Sicily, Etna DOC
THANK you for allowing me to revisit this, Greg! :)

80% Nerello Mascalese & 20% Nerello Cappuccio aged for 6 months in wood & 24 months in bottle

N: Closed; cherries, earth

P: Med, poss MF, body; RNDISH entry with nice frt met by some firming structure which DOES pretty much resolve by the LONG, spicy finish with a touch of tang. For now & through '19, POSS a tad longer. 13.5% ABV; My VG. 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson, 89 pts WE, and 87 pts Wine & Spirits. [Though probably no longer available, this vendor's $14.95 KILLS the only other June 2018 listed wine-searcher vendor by ~ $10!]
