Flight 1 (4 notes)

Red
2008 DuMOL Pinot Noir Estate USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
93 points
Tasted blind. Slow oxed this for 3 hours before serving but should have decanted it. Initially had very earthy aromas but just needed some air. Got some mushroom, cherry, dried strawberry and brown sugar on the Flavors of cherry, dried strawberry, herb and earth on the palate. Ended with a 35 second finish. The more recent Dumol's I have drank were better than this bottle. Gave it a 94 initially but probably more of a 93.

Red
2014 Bevan Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Wildfoote Vineyard, Vixen Block USA, California, Napa Valley, Stags Leap District
98 points
Tasted blind. Decanted this for 3 hours before serving. Got some aromas of blackberry, cherry, iron and earth on the nose. The fruit was up front and center though. Flavors of cherry, blackberry, plum and currants. Ends with a 50 second finish of red and dark fruits. This is just as sexy as I remember it back in Napa with smooth tannins and drinking really great.

2007 Marcassin Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
94 points
Tasted blind. Decanted prior to serving but unsure how long. Aromas of cherry, sassafras, brown sugar and a touch of sarsaparilla. Flavors of dried cherry, brown sugar, earth and herb. My friend mentioned an Aubert but this wasn't big enough to be that. A great Pinot for sure but can't say I wasn't a tad disappointed when the bag came off. With a Marcassin I expected a little more considering the pedigree.

Red
2014 Realm Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley, St. Helena
100 points
Tasted blind. We were told this was one of the Pinot's but my friend and I quickly pointed out this was not a Pinot. This had a fantastic nose of cherry, currant, boysenberry, bit of earth and something very distinctive I could not put my finger on. Flavors of black cherry, earth, blackberry and currant. The finish on this lasted 55-60 seconds and seemed to go one forever. This is really an unbelievable wine that had some distinctiveness to it which made it special.
