Introduction

Another great tasting with excellent food. Ramonet Montrachet 2008 was WOTN.

Flight 1 (14 notes)

White - Sparkling
2011 Agrapart Champagne Grand Cru Vénus Brut Nature Blanc de Blancs France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Lovely expressive nose, almonds, white flowers. Taste creamy, sweet, lots of verve, fullbodied. Limited complexity in the taste, on the basis of my experience with older Venus bottles I think this just needs more time in bottle.
White
2008 Domaine Ramonet Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
Wine of the night. Typical slightly minty nose, very broad, floral, gorgeous. Taste also wonderful, crisp acidity, sweetness, layers of fruit and enormous length of many minutes. This is what Montrachet is. Later on the wine developed lovely buttery Meursault like tones further broadening the palate. Drinking and smelling this wine is a journey.
White
2015 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Mineral, citric nose, very deep, a bit salty. Later on more stone fruit. Taste lots of concentration, at first a bit tight showing mostly minerals, in time it opens up showing multi-dimensional tones. Very fresh and clear wine, typical perrieres.
White
2014 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Corton-Charlemagne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Directly after opening this was so closed in nose, giving almost nothing, like smelling water. Taste is different, very fresh, lots of volume, citrus, minerals, crisp acidic backbone. In time nose and taste open showing the enormous potential of this wine: beautiful stone fruit, apple, orange. Very good corton charlemagne!

2014 Georges Noellat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits Monts France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Impressive red fruit, velvety, lovely spices, round soft tannins in the back. Absolutely wonderful Vosne. Seductive pinot from Maxim.

Red
2006 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Lovely Ruchottes, aromatically red fruit nose with spices and herbs. Taste red fruit, very pure wine, cool and mineral, great structure, clearly grand cru. Round integrated tannins. The mouthfeel with a long finish is what makes this wine very special. Classy, sophisticated.
Red
2016 Domaine Jean-Marc / Thomas Bouley Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Fruity red fruit nose and taste. Lots of material and concentration, good backbone, spicy, very well made Volnay. This is very approachable at the moment, but will further develop in time in bottle. Amazing how this Volnay was on the same level as the two 2016 Clos Vougeot’s we were drinking.
Red
2016 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Lovely red fruit in nose and taste, good structured body with great mouthfeel, still young but showing huge potential.
Red
2016 Jean-Marc Millot Clos Vougeot Grand Maupertuis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Rich red fruited wine, spicy, slight sweetness, drinking already very well at this moment, good body and length. Excellent Clos Vougeot, I wonder how this will develop in future.
Red
2009 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Directly after opening a big brooding wine with still quite some tannins. After contact with air the wine smoothed out. Lovely Vosne spices, balanced dark fruit, great body and length. This is the best Suchots there is and this 2009 version is excellent now.
Red
2009 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Latricières-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru
Drank next to the 2009 Arnoux Suchots. Lots of similarities, however this is less spicier, but more mineral. Dark fruit, very good body and length.
White
2016 Bruno Colin Bâtard-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
This was a difficult wine. Completely wound up after opening. Decanted for three hours, after this it became more accessible but still very tight. Lots of extract, great acidity, but also lots of wood tones. Needs time to integrate.
White - Off-dry
2012 Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Spätlese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Very elegant wine, melon, white flowers, sweetness and acidity that are completely in balance. Great pairing with dessert.

Rosé - Sparkling
2013 Jérôme Prévost La Closerie Fac-Simile France, Champagne
Nose of red fruit, dried red fruit and rose leavelets. Taste red fruit, balanced acidity and nice oxidative tones. Pleasant way to end an evening filled with beautiful wines.
