White - Sparkling
1995 Charles Heidsieck Champagne Blanc des Millénaires France, Champagne

Our penultimate bottle. At first just a bit too nutty but this blossomed over an hour or so. Apple, marshmallow and cashew nuts. Vanilla cream, orchard fruit and creme brulee flavors. Good length on the finish. Excellent. 91-92 pts.

White - Sparkling
2004 Bollinger Champagne La Grande Année France, Champagne
First poour was very odd, as it smelled like a wedge of fresh gouda cheese. After a couple of hours I revisited this and it had improved a great deal, with notes of wet dough and orchard fruit. Give this time to sort itself out.

Rosé - Sparkling
2011 Ernest Remy Champagne Rosé de Saignée France, Champagne

Courtesy of tlv, this is showed nice red berry fruit but had a dominant stemmy quality that I found distracting.
White
2008 Peter Michael Chardonnay La Carrière USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley
flawed
Nearing our last of these, this showed promise with a youthful pale color and citrus-dominated bouquet. There's an acetone quality on the palate though, masking any fruit.
White
2012 E. Guigal Condrieu La Doriane France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Condrieu
95 points
I love me some viognier and this is clearly a great one. Courtesy of VT. Peach and mineral notes with a terrific floral element. Rich and layered across the palate with a long finish.

Red
2006 Thomas Pinot Noir Dundee Hills USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills
90 points
Double decanted off its fine sediment and tasted perhaps 90 minutes later. Very promising when it was first opened, I expected greatness as it opened. Cherry, floral and red berry fruit but there is also a stemmy, green note that becomes dominant as this sits. This is the first time I can recall finding this characteristic in a Thomas pinot. Hopefully a one-off...perhaps I'll open another soon to find out.

1997 Siro Pacenti Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

Courtesy of jcubed. A classic beauty absolutely firing on all cylinders- elegant and nuanced, offering something more each time I went back to the glass. Cherry, currant, dusty earth, rose hip, cedar and sandalwood. Fully-integrated and balanced. Did not fade at all during the course of the evening so I can see this drinking at this level for a few years yet.
White - Off-dry
1993 Schwaab-Kiebel Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese Fuder #9 Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
90 points
Courtesy of VM. Light, almost youthful, color. Peach and orchard fruit notes with a nice petrol element too. Nice balancing acidity with a stony minerality in the finish.
Red
1997 Domenico Clerico Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
89 points
Courtesy of VM. Notes of anise and red berry fruit with a nice rustic edge. Cherry, currant, spices and red plum on the palate; again, slightly rustic. 89-90 pts.

2005 Domenico Clerico Barolo Ciabot Mentin Ginestra Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo

Courtesy of Dan, and my favorite of the three vintages of this wine tasted tonight. Aromas of rose, tar, currants and cherry. Fairly firm and tannic, though there is good underlying fruit and spice qualities. Long finish.

Courtesy of Dan. Dark fruit notes dominate the bouquet. Ripe fruit on the palate, with hints of raisin. Structured and firm; not giving up very much right now. Hold until 2023+.

Courtesy of thelostverse, tasted later in the evening, which made for a nice change of pace after a few reds- kind of refreshed the palate a bit. Hints of citrus, apple and mineral. Nice balancing acidity. Lively and refreshing; balanced; medium finish.

2007 Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve USA, California, Napa Valley

Courtesy of billhike. Deep color with notes of currant, cassis and vanilla. Abundant fruit on the palate; structured and firm. Plenty of potential here, but this needs time.

Red - Fortified
1997 Niepoort Porto Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
89 points
Courtesy of VM. Aromas of dark fruit with a ripe, raisiny overtone. Raspberry and prune flavors on the palate. Long finish. I don't care for the ripe, raisiny character here.
