Introduction

In general the formula here is that the host sets a theme and every participant brings a wine of the theme. The host puts a few extra on the table. We taste all wines blind, knowing our own wines. We first taste a little bit in a random order. Then we decide together in which order the wines will be tasted again and after that revealed. In this group we do not use spittoons, so the number of bottles is limited. We don’t empty the bottles, but leave the leftovers for the host to taste again the next day, or take home the bottle we brought. In fact this easy setting where we taste the wines several times over 4 – 6 hours is the ultimate way to get a good impression of a wine.

Flight 1 (7 notes)

Red
2007 Château La Lagune France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
90 points
In the bouquet dark berries, vanilla, pleasant toast, smoke and graphite. On the palate vanilla, creamy dark berries, round tannin with a pleasant bite. Overall creamy and in fact still youthful. Really pleasurable now.
Red
2003 Château Giscours France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
92 points
Expressive and complex bouquet with vanilla as well as red and dark berries. On the palate a refined and complex wine as well with red and black berries, beautiful acidity and a pleasant touch of sweetness. The tannin promises a future of a few more years.

Chocolate and dark berries in the bouquet. On the palate dark and red berries, some earth and green impressions, firm acidity and sticky tannin. Elegant acidity and still not really showing itself. Would like to taste again in a few years. 90 – 91
Red
2009 Château Rauzan-Ségla France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
94 points
Creamy yoghurt and red as well as dark berries in the bouquet; mainly dark berries. Same on the palate, round, expressive, creamy, spreading through the mouth, beautiful acidity and round still powerful tannin. The wine is still a bit locked and holds a great promise. Very beautiful wine! For today 93 – 94. In a decade from now probably 95 or more.
