N.V. Roederer Estate Brut Anderson Valley USA, California, North Coast, Anderson Valley
90 points
CNY. Orchard fruit with nice toasty undertones. Medium bead.
Rosé
2015 Caves d'Esclans Rock Angel France, Provence, Côtes de Provence
88 points
CNY. Courtesy of Al, this shows a soft pink color with notes of rose, strawberry, melon and florals. nice acidity. Cherry, rose and mineral notes on the palate. 88-89 pts.
Rosé
2016 Château de Lancyre Pic St. Loup Rosé France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Pic St. Loup
88 points
CNY. Rose and cherry notes; sweeter than the d'Esclans by a good margin. Mineral and white currants on the palate. A nice contrast in styles between the two. 88-89 pts.
Red
2015 Kelley Fox Wines Pinot Noir Momtazi Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, McMinnville
89 points
CNY. Dark color. Peppery spice and ripe plummy pinot fruit along with ripe black cherry and more spice. Cherry and spice - on the riper side. If blind I'd have guessed CA pinot. Shows more cherry and red plum as it opens over the course of the evening, but remains a slightly "bigger" pinot than I expected it to be.
Red
1998 Paloma Syrah USA, California, Napa Valley, Spring Mountain District
88 points
CNY. Our last bottle, decanted off its sediment and taken to dinner. Currants, game and pepper, with a peppery garrigue quality on the palate. There's a subtle aroma in the bouquet suggesting this is past its prime, and it is, but there's still some sweet fat fruit on the palate. Tired, yes, but definitely not dead, and still has enough going on to be interesting. I have no doubt a bottle here and there may show very well for the next few years but those will likely be the exception to the rule. Drink 'em up. 88+ pts.
Red
2005 Château Lagrange (St. Julien) France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
92 points
CNY. Courtesy of J&K, decanted prior to their arrival. Perfumed dark fruit has an appealing feminine edge. Still fairly tannic, though with nice underlying fruit. What's here is very nice, and it pairs nicely with the steak course. I might give these a few years yet though, as there's definitely some upside.

2014 Château Vieux Cardinal Lafaurie France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Lalande de Pomerol
85 points
CNY. Another sample courtesy of JB. Earth amd red fruit qualities on the nose and palate. Red plum, earth and spice. Simple, but good.
White
2002 Kistler Chardonnay Cuvée Cathleen USA, California, Sonoma County
CNY. Courtesy of JB. For my palate, this is well over the hill. Candly apple, sherry, butterscotch and more sherry. I suspect only bottles in very cold cellars will still be showing well at this point.
Red
2008 Clos Apalta Chile, Rapel Valley, Colchagua Valley, Apalta
93 points
CNY, courtesy of R&D, popped and poured. Cassis, loamy earth, herbs and dark plummy fruit. More of the same on the palate. Has some tannin to shed, but is certainly approachable now with a healthy decant.

1999 Bouchard Père et Fils Beaune 1er Cru Clos de la Mousse France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
90 points
CNY. Courtesy of AB and showing nicely but has plenty in reserve. Cherry and earth with a nice minerality. I suspect this will be even better with a few more years in the cellar.
Red
2016 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
91 points
CNY. Clearly too young, but curiosity got the best of me and so we pulled the cork and decanted this for a short while before leaving for the dinner. Deep color. Dark fruit and spice elements with a subtle mineral/rocky component. Tannins are firm but fine. Mixed fruit, herbs, earth and spice tones. Very young, but the fruit is very nice and it's already nicely balanced. This will be a fun one to follow over the coming years. 91-92 pts now, with plenty of upside. Hold until 2026+.

Courtesy of J&K. Decanted. Cassis and dark berry fruit notes on the nose and palate. Vanilla and oak spice flavors in the finish. Young and tight, this has some potential but needs time. Hold until 2023+.
White
2014 Stefania Viognier USA, California, Central Coast, San Benito County
89 points
CNY. Not that we needed another bottle but I brought this for the double happiness and it paired nicely. Peach and stone elements though quite subtle and understated overall. Very nice.
Red - Fortified
2011 Dow Porto Late Bottled Vintage Portugal, Douro, Porto
91 points
CNY. Courtesy of R. Cassis and dark fruit along with raspberry jam and chocolate elements. Full-bodied. Flavors of kirsch, cassis, chocolate and plum liqueur. Lengthy finish. Excellent.
Red
2011 Textbook Cabernet Sauvignon Mise en Place USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
88 points
CNY, courtesy of R&D. Dark fruit- cassis and currants- along with a dominant green streak- the unripe sauvignon kind. Normally I don't mind this as much as others but tonight, with this wine, I found it distracting. Dark fruit on the palate with a green streak. Tannins are a bit chalky. Medium finish.
Red
2016 Kelley Fox Wines Pinot Noir Mirabai USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills
89 points
CNY. Cherry, mineral and spice notes. Cherry and rhubarb flavors. Good.
