Introduction

Day 2 @ Ecco Zurich. I love this Restaurant. Great Food, Location and Service. Again perfectly matched up with the menu. Thanks Stefan.

Day 2 of Richard Juhlin's Top 100.
The first flight was amazing with Selosse Les Carelles 03/04/05, CdM 2000 and VVF 1996. No words needed. CdM at his Peak. Tremendous

Flight 1 (1 note)

Reductive, fresh, great

White - Sparkling
2002 Louis Roederer Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
94 points
From Magnum, not blind
As starter before the Richard Juhlin T op 100 Tasting Part
very youthful, reductive, blindly I would guess DP, wet stones, goose berry, some herbals, at least ten more years, no oxidation signs, no roasted aromas, perfect bubbles. If you like it fresher than it is at his peak. I would give him at least 10 more years. 94

Flight 2 (3 notes)

Flight of the Weekend, CdM briefly in front of Les carelles, VVF perfect to food

White - Sparkling
N.V. Jacques Selosse Champagne Grand Cru Lieux-dits Extra Brut Le Mesnil-sur-Oger Les Carelles France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
99 points
Vintages 03/04/05, disgorged 2013
Not blind. What a start into the tasting.

Typical Selosse nose, tropical fruits, pineapple, mandarines, yuzu, brutally fresh, dense, complex, roasted pine nuts, gaining with time and air. unbelivable pure and great acidity structure. At least 10 more years. No oxidation signs as often accused. 98-99
White - Sparkling
2000 Krug Champagne Clos du Mesnil France, Champagne
99 points
Not blind
Suprisingly a stunner. By far the best champagne from my not beloved 2000 vintage. powerfull, more CdM than Krug, pure elegance, great density, at his peak, minimal honey note and barely nuts. citrus dominated. The wine of the afternoon. By narrow in front of Selosse. 99
White - Sparkling
1996 Bollinger Champagne Vieilles Vignes Françaises France, Champagne
97 points
Not blind
Great wine but for me 3rd place in the flight with CdM 2000 and Selosse Les Carelles. Feels more riped in palate than the other two ones (I know it is older). More winey, denser, you feel the oak use. Three years ago fresher and more precise. Great acidity. Fitting perfect to food because of its concentration. 96-97. For me and overall 3rd place in this flight

Flight 3 (3 notes)

The Deutz is a Young Baby as Vino and magnum

White - Sparkling
1988 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
95 points
For a Krug 1988 too ripe in this stage. A touch too oxidative, dominating roasted aromas. now at its peak. The Mag two month earlier was much fresher. 95
White - Sparkling
1985 Deutz Champagne Cuvée William Deutz Vinothèque France, Champagne
98 points
Not Blind, Magnum
You feel the citrus freshness, reductive, Granny Smith apple,no oxidation signs, wet stone, oyster shell, some toast, thyme, great balance, some nuts in the finish. Far away from his peak. 98+
White - Sparkling
1988 Ruinart Champagne Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs France, Champagne
96 points
Not blind
Much better than yesterday. Butterscoth, toffee, salty, balanced, at his peak. 96

Flight 4 (3 notes)

Second Best flight of the Weekend. Cristal Rose is a great Rose but in reality is not a Rose it is a great wine

Rosé - Sparkling
2002 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut Rosé France, Champagne
97 points
Not blind,
Cristral Rose is the finest Rose for me. Pure elegance. I think the greatest wine in this flight. Finesse, elegance, discreet fruit, citrus, not completely balanced. 97 (99)
Rosé - Sparkling
1996 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Vinothéque Brut Rosé France, Champagne
98 points
My winner in this Cristal Rose flight. For many 2002 is the better wine but today they preferred 1996. I'm not sure. Unbeliavable fresh, at least 20 more years. The definition of elegance and reluctance. 98 (99)

Rosé - Sparkling
1988 Louis Roederer Champagne Cristal Brut Rosé France, Champagne
97 points
Not blind
Not so strong as two month earlier but still a great wine. Today at his peak, not so fresh as a few weeks ago. Perfectly to food. phantastic acidity. 96-97

Flight 5 (3 notes)

Krug's 1982 at his peak

White - Sparkling
1982 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut France, Champagne
97 points
At his Peak. Everything what a great Krug Needs. Slightly oxidative but lime fresh in the palate. 97-98

White - Sparkling
1979 Taittinger Champagne Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut France, Champagne
93 points
Not blind
Nuts, Cookies, some honey and vanilla. Not so much as usually. In my ooinion too "sweet" and for that reason not perfectly balanced. I love 1979 I love Comtes but this time not my favorite wine. 93
White - Sparkling
1964 Heidsieck & Co. Monopole Champagne Diamant Bleu France, Champagne
92 points
not blind
Mising freshness and bubbles. Not completely oxidized but caramell and Toffee are dominating. This bottle over his Peak but still nice concentration. 91-92

Flight 6 (3 notes)

White - Off-dry
2010 Weingut O. Trarbacher Ungsberg Riesling Auslese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
91 points
Not blind
Triplet of 2010, 2011 and 2012
The best for me , A lot of acidity , still the most balanced with good structu´re and a Saline finish. 90-91
White - Off-dry
2011 Weingut O. Trarbacher Ungsberg Riesling Auslese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
89 points
Not blind
Triplet of 2010, 2011 and 2012
too sweet, not balanced
White - Off-dry
2012 Weingut O. Trarbacher Ungsberg Riesling Auslese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
88 points
Not blind
Triplet of 2010, 2011 and 2012
too sweet, unbalanced, missing acidity

Flight 7 (3 notes)

A phantastic Les Pierrieres and an elegant Creux d'enfer

White - Sparkling
N.V. Ulysse Collin Champagne Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut (2008) Les Pierrières France, Champagne
95 points
Not blind
The nose is overwehelming (99-100), great concentration on the palate. Comparable to a Clos du Mesnil, reminds also to a Selosse with his roasted pine nuts, Tropical fruits, candied pineapple. 95-96
Rosé - Sparkling
2013 Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard Champagne Rosé de Saignée Creux d'Enfer France, Champagne
94 points
Not blind, disgorged 04/2017
Red berries, cherry, subtle, elegant, reluctant, concentrated, powerful but not in a penetrating way, similar to a Cristal Rose. 94-95
White - Sparkling
2013 Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard Champagne Blanc de Blancs La Bolorée France, Champagne
91 points
Not blind, disgorged 04/13
Not the Finesse of the Creux d'Enfers 2013. Bread crust, red berries, raspberry. Missing the Balance of fruit and elegance. 91-92

Flight 8 (1 note)

Too young

White
2015 Jean-Pierre Pellegrin Chardonnay C Switzerland, Genève
92 points
Bottle no 751, not blind
A great Chardonnay but in the moment oak dominated, some vanilla but great acidity structure. Alcohol not perfectly integrated, Needs 2-3 more yaers to get balanced. 92-93
