Introduction

Weygandt imports a ton of awesome wines, many from women winemakers. This is just a small sample size, but some really fun wines in this lot from producers I respect.

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2016 Weedenborn Westhofener Terra Rossa Riesling Trocken Germany, Rheinhessen
87 points
Really fun, bright, with a peachy-lemony, floral, honeyed yet salty appeal.
White
2017 Birgit Eichinger Grüner Veltliner Wechselberg Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal
90 points
Juicy and fruit with complex pepper and mineral tones, a mountain stream and wild herb combo really hits the spot.
White
2016 Les Granges Paquenesses Côtes du Jura La Pierre France, Jura, Côtes du Jura
90 points
Clean, vibrant, bright, mineral-driven, salty. The non-oxidative style allows for a bright, brisk interpretation, but there's some delicious apple and lemon curd in here, too. Love this producer.
Red
2015 Serge Dagueneau Pinot Noir Côtes de la Charité Les Montées de Saint Lay France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Côtes de la Charité
88 points
Tangy red fruits on a bright, crisp frame with red fruits and dusty, earthy, roasted herb notes. Savory elements are really fun, and there's a floral depth as well, but it's also so fun and crushable at $18. Pretty cool to find this small production Pinot hailing from a chalky-clay site in Pouilly-Fume.
Red
2013 Bartoli Giusti Brunello di Montalcino Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
88 points
Nice stuff. Good amount of cherry and currant fruit on a bed of evolved, velvety tannins and moderate acidity. Earthy, savory, floral, herbal, anise notes are starting to come out. Not super deep but delicious.
Red
2017 Mas Martinet Priorat Menut Spain, Catalunya, Priorat
88 points
Year after year this wine is: fun, delicious, accessible, inexpensive, yet showing depth enough to keep open-minded wine nerds interested. Yes it's a burlier wine (this is Priorat) at 15% but lots of nuanced spice and earth tones with leather and coffee, some mineral tones too, all accenting the juicy black fruit. Yum.
