Introduction
2018 Giant Steps Pinot and Chardonnay wines and 2016 Yeringberg. The two years clearly shows in the wines. Does Giant Steps release too early?
Flight 1 (16 notes)
White
2018 Giant Steps Chardonnay Tarraford Vineyard
Reserved, tight nose. Ditto palate. A trace underripe.
White
2018 Giant Steps Chardonnay Sexton Vineyard
Some lemony fruit on the nose. Some fruit roundness on the palate. Also very tight.
White
2018 Giant Steps Chardonnay
A blend of the vineyards. By far the most approachable of the chardonnays. Showing some signs of development.
Red
2018 Giant Steps Pinot Noir Sexton Vineyard
Showing some round Pinot fruit. Should open up nicely with time.
Red
2018 Giant Steps Pinot Noir Applejack Vineyard
Showing some nice Pinot fruit but still very austere.
Red
2018 Giant Steps Pinot Noir Primavera Vineyard
Vineyard is on Lusatia Park Rd.
Some lift, some emerging fruit characters. Still very constrained.

White
2016 Yeringberg Marsanne Roussanne
Beginning to show some flavour development. Restrained structure. Needs 3+ years.
White
Red
2016 Yeringberg Pinot Noir
Showing some debt. Ripe aromas. Lovely sweet fruit emerging, but the flavours are not long A tad extractive. Still not going to buy this.
Red
2016 Yeringberg
Developing nice sweetness. Lacks much of the cabernet austerity that I dislike. 2025+
