Introduction

VIP tasting at Esquin Seattle. McKenna from Quilceda Creek was on hand to present the wines.

Flight 1 (5 notes)

Red
2016 Quilceda Creek CVR Columbia Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley

Deep purple color with strong black cherry on the nose. Slightly both hot and acidic, but filled with dark fruit and a medium finish. Overall a decent showing.

Red
2014 Quilceda Creek Palengat Red Wine USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Horse Heaven Hills
93 points
Deep purple color and long legs. The nose was fairly earthy with hints of caramel amongst the dark fruit. The palate was slightly acidic, with sharp/bold tannins. I would definitely hold for another 5 years before opening. Overall, this has some great potential, especially after the bouquet starts to come together.
Red
2013 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon Galitzine Vineyard USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Red Mountain
94 points
The most approachable Quiceda Creek wine of the night. Deep purple and long legs. The nose was oddly mute amongst the hints of earth, which opened up to smooth tannins, black pepper, cherry, and a long finish. I anticipate this will reach its full potential in 2-3 years, but is still quite wonderful right now.
Red
2015 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
96 points
Wow! Is this wine built to last. It was almost impossible to drink right now, due to the big, bold, harsh tannins. However, once these are able to integrate further, I undoubtedly see this shining with balanced fruit and age-worthy complexity. Wait 10 years at least.

Absolutely enjoyable. Still very young, but showing more of its potential than its 2015 predecessor. Deep purple color, long legs, lots of black cherry on the nose, while being a little hot an acidic on the palate. Medium finish with plenty of dark fruit.

This definitely needs more time to level out and integrate, but I anticipate that it will reach its apogee much sooner than the 2015.

I absolutely love this now and love its potential!

Overall, these were all showing great potential, but none were ready to PnP. Buy for the future. Your future self will thank you.
