Flight 1 - Whites (4 notes)

White
2011 Domaine Dublère Corton-Charlemagne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
91 points
Double blind. Nice layering in the nose with classic orchard fruit and minerality. Very clean and pure aromas. Nice richness and density. I was thinking 1er. My 2nd favorite in the flight.
White
2011 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
92 points
Double blind. Seemed to be the 'youngest' in this blind horizontal. A wow nose with intense, full aromatics. The palate is rich and dense with matchstick reduction throughout, that was complementary to the fruit and lemon-oil notes. Long. My wine of the flight.
White
2011 Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Corton-Charlemagne Quintessence France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
90 points
Double blind. The most muted and ripest of the blind trio. The aromatics here were brooding and the palate was richer, riper and seemingly more mature. I thought this might be an '03 1er white burg, FWIW.
White
1997 Coche-Dury Bourgogne Blanc France, Burgundy, Bourgogne Blanc
88 points
Darn impressive for a 22+ White Burg. Boastful nose is impressive for an appellation wine of this age -- roasted nuts and mature orchard fruit. Fruit is still lush and fresh. The palate is vibrant. Not the most complex but provides a lot of pleasure and interest.

Flight 2 - Vosne (2 notes)

Red
2015 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
93 points
A simply epic nose that screams Vosne with intoxicating macerated black cherry and intense, powerful Vosne spice. The palate is similarly enthralling and delicious, if a little less exciting than the nose. Seriously impressive and drinking so well right now.
Red
2001 Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair Vosne-Romanée La Colombiere France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
88 points
Kind of muddled on the nose with tired/brooding black cherry and earth. The palate got better with some time, but this never hit the highs or pleasure of the '15 Clos de Chateau.

Flight 3 - Willamette (4 notes)

Red
2017 Rose & Arrow Pinot Noir Stone Creek USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
93 points
My favorite of the three 2017s. Super intense black cherry and spice, that definitely has a tie/likeness to the Liger-Belair Vosne wines. The palate is rich and intense. More richness than I typically find in Oregon, but precise and balanced. Vibrant. Impressed.
Red
2017 Rose & Arrow Pinot Noir Yamhill Close USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton
92 points
The aromas here are bigger and dense -- not yet delineated. The palate is more approachable with so much rich and lush black cherry yet lively and bright. Intense spice-filled finish, once again drawing out some connection to the LB wines.
Red
2017 Rose & Arrow Pinot Noir Gathered Stones Hopewell Hills USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills
90 points
The nose here is brooding, subdued and darker. Big, rich and dense on the front end with plenty of spice in the finish. Seems very raw at this stage.
Red
2016 Rose & Arrow Pinot Noir Gathered Stones Hopewell Hills USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Eola - Amity Hills

Far preferred this to the brooding 2017 served side-by-side. A bigger and riper vintage for sure. Aromas are big and intense with smokey, ripe black cherry and spice. Rich with bold, bold spice -- all in a lively, ethereal frame.
