Absolutely delicious, showing the slight nutty/oxidative notes that come with age but still bright and fresh at the same time.

Red
1970 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Brought to dinner by a friend and a real treat. Seemed dead on opening and we were worried there wasnt much left to it, but within literally 5 min this perked up and was drinking beautifully for about an hour before it started to fade again. I would not decant this one, open when you are ready to drink and enjoy the window of excellent drinking.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
1999 Vérité La Muse USA, California, Sonoma County

Similar to my previous note although this bottle may have perhaps been more youthful. Very exotic and intense aromas on opening which I hadn’t noticed in my last bottle. Remarkable fruit, tobacco, graphite and balsamic. This was enjoyed by old and new world drinkers alike. And when compared to the 2004 Le desir, outshone it by far.

My first le desir and paled in comparison to the la muse. I think if we weren’t drinking them side by side this might have had a better showing. Lovely fruit and mineral flavors, but the nose was closed and remained so for the two hour window we had it open. Maybe a longer decant next time will help too. But on its own would have been a lovely wine.

White - Sweet/Dessert
2007 I Veroni Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Vin Santo del Chianti Rùfina

I wish I had better notes on this one but it was many bottles in and over a week ago. But I did want to note how good it was and perfect for after dinner with cheese. The perfect amount of honeyed sweetness and drinking so nicely. Enjoyed by all.

At the end of the night, after the dessert wine and while picking at the remains of dessert, this wine still showed up well. Pure berry fruit and a little bit of spice, this was pure hedonism and again gives me optimism for some of these 2017s. I wish I had taken better notes in the moment because my review would probably have been even more positive. Yum.
