Introduction

Drop-in Friday night tasting at Cork on Alberta St. in Portland.

Flight 1 (3 notes)

Red
2004 Spellbound Cabernet Sauvignon USA, California
86 points
Smooth, very fruit-forward cab. Lighter tannins, but enough to keep the acidity under wraps. Big tastes of blueberry and raspberry, with just a touch of pepper.
Red
2005 Dominio IV The Technicolor Bat USA, Oregon/Washington, Columbia Gorge
85 points
Nice blackberry, with a touch of smoke and coffee. Smooth, but sharp tannins that dry the mouth considerably in the finish.
Red
2004 Snowden Cabernet Sauvignon Lost Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford
90 points
Wine of the Tasting. Huge flavors of black cherry and mineral, with well-integrated tannins, although a bit drying. Hint of heat on the nose, but nothing that you could pick up on the palate or finish. Very nice wine!
