Introduction

Tasting of 2 Dom Fourrier vs 2 negotiants

Flight 1 (2 notes)

Red
2011 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Vieille Vigne France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
95 points
Opened and bottle chilled 2:30h before serving. Similar note. Expressive nose with fruit (cherry, raspberry). The palate is full body with fruit, spice and flower. Medium to long finishing. WOTN.

Red
2013 Jean-Marie Fourrier Latricières-Chambertin Vieille Vigne France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru
94 points
Bottle breathe for 2.5 hours. More expressive than 2011 CSJ for the nose with cherry, violet and perfume. The palate is clear, fresh, integrated tannin and shows some complexity. Ready to drink, and almost as good as CSJ.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
2014 Jean-Marie Fourrier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
93 points
Bottle breathe for 2.5 hours, plus another 1.5 to 2 hours as we pushed this back to the second flight. Nose is not as expressive as CSJ and Latricieres but still cherry and violet aroma. Palate is smooth fruit and flower, with some complexity but still young. Not fully opened - we needed to decant it for another 30 min to open up. Medium finishing. Still early days to drink now. Suggest to wait for a few years.
Red
2013 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe aux Moines Vieille Vigne France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
91 points
Bottle breathe for 2.5 hours + another 2 hours (being put in 2nd flight). Nose is rather reserved with some note of violet. The palate is a bit thin, with some fruit and flower, and showed some complexity. Medium finishing. Not a performer for the night as it faced CM Amoureuses, CSJ, and amazing Latricieres Chambertin. It's still a good wine on standalone basis.

Closing

All the Fourrier wines performed well. Only 1 bottle is slightly below expectation (the body is thin).
