White
1997 Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
94 points
Glass: Sophienwald
Tasted blind. Clear, medium golden nose. Needs air and time to unfold. Clean, medium+ developing and almost intoxicating nose. Very deep, popcorn, smoky, fine oak. So beautiful!
Dry. Wonderful balance and elegance. Very deep, good pressure. Some grassy/vegetable notes, mixed with a wonderful salty mineral note. Beautiful texture. Very fine and long. Gets better and better with air, so I would assume it still has a bright future ahead. 94+

Flight 4 (1 note)

White
1997 Louis Jadot Chevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru
92 points
Glass: Sophienwald
Tasted blind. Clear, medium amber color. We should have decanted the wine. At first some oxidized notes in the nose that went away with some time.
I would still consider this wine a bit past peak, but with air it showed a glimpse of what a GC could be. Lacks a bit of depth and tension of a real great Montrachet, but still a very good experience. Drink up soon. 91-92

Flight 5 (1 note)

White
2007 Cantina Terlan Sauvignon Terlano Quarz Italy, Trentino-Alto Adige, Alto Adige, Terlano
90 points
Glass: Sophienwald
Tasted blind. Clear, medium golden nose. Easily identifiable as a very good Sauvignon Blanc. Lots of cassis, grass, elder. Fresh, but you could sense the ripeness, very dense.
On the palate also dense, deep, salty, good balance. Classic SB notes. Medium(-) acidity. My oldest Quarz so far and a beautiful experience. 89-90 Drink within the next 2-3 years.

Flight 6 (1 note)

Red
1995 R. López de Heredia Rioja Gran Reserva Viña Tondonia Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alta, Rioja
93 points
Glass: Sophienwald
Clear, medium garnet color. Unfortunately, not decanted. It would have benefitted from at least 1-2h decant. At first some funky notes in the nose that went away with time. Fine sweet red fruit, spices, oak, leather and tobacco emerged with time. Nose got better and better with air.
Beautiful acidity, fine medium tannin. Only 12,5% abv. Fine red fruit, some green pepper, very elegant, good balance, long and juicy. With air also a nice sweetness. Will age effordlessly. 93+

Flight 7 (1 note)

Red
1999 Vieux Château Certan France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
94 points
Glass: Sophienwald
Tasted blind. Decanted for only a few minutes. Clear, deep ruby color. Beautiful, almost intoxicating nose with lots of crushed red fruit, cacao, espresso, tar, some brett, fine oak. Deep, complex and beautiful.
On the palate very fine and elegant. Velvet texture. Tannin starts a bit drying out. Fine red fruit, some lovely sweetness. Long and seductive finish. Would say it is at its full peak. Beautiful wine. 94-95

Flight 8 (1 note)

Red
2010 Fernando Remírez de Ganuza Rioja Gran Reserva Spain, La Rioja, La Rioja Alavesa, Rioja
Glass: Sophienwald
Tasted blind. Not decanted. Hard to rate and tell. This is red fermented fruit juice. It has all it takes for a very good, modern Rioja, but at this early stage it is too simple and one-dimensional, especially after the 1995 Tondonia. No rating.

Flight 9 (1 note)

White - Sweet/Dessert
1989 Domaine Huet Vouvray Moelleux Le Haut-Lieu France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray
92 points
Glass: Sophienwald
1er Trie filling. Decanted for about 2-3h. Finally a good bottle. Clear, medium amber color. Nose with some earty, waxy notes and fine spices, mellow apple.
On the palate beautiful balance of acidity and sweetness. Brown sugar, ripe, sweet fruit, honey, mixed with some mineral notes and spices. Very long and complex. 92-93

White - Off-dry
2004 Zilliken (Forstmeister Geltz) Saarburger Rausch Riesling Spätlese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
92 points
Glass: Sophienwald
Popped and poured. Late release from the winery. Pale, youthful golden color. Beautiful fresh and young nose, with ripe lime, slight petrol notes, herbs, slate.
Beautiful classic Saar Spätlese. Ripe citrus fruit, medium acidity, limestone, juicy. Very joyful, now at its full peak with no hurry at all. Good balance and length. 91-92

Flight 11 (1 note)

White
2007 Weingut Keller Westhofener Kirchspiel Riesling Grosse Lage-R- Germany, Rheinhessen
91 points
Glass: Sophienwald
Popped and poured. Clear, pale yellow color. Fine, ripe fruit, passion fruit, honey. On the palate very fresh, deep and dense. Serious, complex Riesling, unfortunately off-dry which makes it a bit broad and removes tension and energy. We will see, if this ever blend in. Usual 91+
