Nicely floral start with plenty of apple throughout. Good concentration as well with bright textures middle forward. Good now through the next few year while it retains that energy.

In 14/13/08/01/96 vertical. Ripe and very fun with more black vs red cherry, roasted meat hints and savory spice. Great balance. Seemed lighter styled than I recall from when tasted twice in 2018, so this may well be in between its youthful exuberance and a future evolved, layered state.

2013 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Combe aux Moines Vieille Vigne France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru

In 14/13/08/01/96 vertical. Also lighter styled, like the 2014, with slightly less fruit concentration but more elegant textures. While the 2014 stayed consistent through several hours, this 2013 kept improving, getting longer and even brighter. Also showing plenty of upside.

In 14/13/08/01/96 vertical. So much black cherry with savory spice, roasted meat, finishing with black pepper and allspice. Very good weight and balance. Much better, accessible vs another bottle from earlier this year. Very good now, with upside.

In 14/13/08/01/96 vertical. Same black fruit with plenty of earth and just the most faint spice notes. Ever-so-slightly drying on finish. More earth emerged with more air. Not nearly as good vs last time tasted in 2017, hopefully this was an off bottle.

In 14/13/08/01/96 vertical. Great aromatic start with ripe black fruit, forest floor, braised meat and Boeuf Bourguignon spice. More mature on palate, and also slightly less excited or complete, but still certainly enjoyable. Started fading after an hour+ in glass. This was opened a couple of hours before serving, which might have been too long. Still, very good now.

Served double blind following Fourrier Combe aux Moine vertical. Black berry and cherry throughout with smoked meat, good density, good+ length. Assessed as a blind wine, this was clearly from Burgundy, seemed most likely from Gevrey, and I thought it 10-15 years old. I then correctly identified the vintage when told it was either 2009 or 2007. Knew it had to be Rousseau when told that it was Village level (I thought 1er Cru).

Still sweeter than expected with good stone fruit and mineral textures, but slightly simpler than I expected at this stage. But still very bright and fresh, so I imagine that evolution is yet to come. 89-90 points tonight.
