Introduction

It has been a slog since before the holidays without a tasting. Have a good cellar but it is more interesting to taste with others.

Flight 1 (1 note)

I brought this it was from the distributor and on deal.

White
2011 Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
88 points
Not overwhelming but quite nice. Mild lemony nose, good balance, mild sweetness, all the classic key flavor, structure and finish points just mildly stated. Nice

Flight 2 (13 notes)

Not as many Kermit Wines but all were interesting and some worth cellaring

Red
2018 Domaine de Fontsainte Corbières Reserve la Demoiselle France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Corbières
92 points
A big wine that needs time but it is definitely lovely and will be a jewel. As good or better than previous vintages.

Red
2019 Domaine de Fontsainte Corbières France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Corbières
90 points
Big juicy slightly chewy. All the depth, weight and balance. Very, very nice bought half a case.
White
2019 Caves Les Vignerons de Florensac Picpoul Blanc Picpoul de Pinet France, Languedoc Roussillon, Vin de Pays d'Oc
87 points
Floral and slightly grassy, this is a classic tart fresh Picpoul. Low alcohol, crisp with light flavors a clean finish. Seashore wine.
White
2019 Azienda Collefrisio Falanghina Vignaquadra Terre di Chieti IGT Italy, Abruzzi, Terre di Chieti IGT
87 points
Simple but nice crisp white, almost austere. Mild floral notes but overall the perception is just simple freshness.
White
2019 Château Graville-Lacoste Blanc France, Bordeaux, Graves
88 points
Catty, grassy, fresh with a lovely balance, texture, and finish. Will be a crowd pleaser.
Red
2019 Zeni Valpolicella Italy, Veneto, Valpolicella
85 points
They have gone to screw cap which is okay and reasonable. The wine however is too simple and lacks depth. Nice dry red but that is it, not that that is bad and it would work with a pizza but so would something many wines.
Red
2017 Joseph Cattin Pinot Noir France, Alsace
86 points
Not the most expressive Pinot, nice color, balance and weight. Fairly unadorned. Frankly I wanted it to be more than it was for $30, not that it wasn't nice but it was not nice enough. Pity
Red
2018 Birichino Grenache Old Vines Besson Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast
91 points
Ready to drink and lovely. Nice Grenache and I did buy a couple of bottles for a dinner next week.
Red
2018 Piazzano Ventoso Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT Italy, Tuscany, Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT
87 points
Butter and cherries, nice weight and depth, worth drinking and a good value. Good value red
Red
2019 Piazzano Chianti Italy, Tuscany, Chianti
85 points
Okay slight mint, a value Chianti, petty boring.
Red
2015 Piazzano Colorino Italy, Tuscany, Colli della Toscana Centrale IGT
Big inky, inky red. Brutal tannins. A raw wine someone bottled. Like a block of Marble, there may be a statue in there but without a chisel you will never know.
Red
2017 Domaine de la Charbonnière Vacqueyras France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Vacqueyras
Solid Vacqueyras big round with all the spicy flavors very attractive and compelling. In the mouth all those flavors are there and then you swallow and it like you just had a shot of vodka. Not sure that will age out. Pass
Red
2018 Crous St. Martin Gigondas Les Espaliers France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas
Nice nose and color, but the tannin level is beyond chewy. Pass

Flight 3 (1 note)

From my cellar, this is a great value wine.

Red
2013 Domaine de Fontsainte Corbières Reserve la Demoiselle France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Corbières
90 points
Last in the cellar one of the all time best value wines around. Just bought half a case of the 2018
