Attractive nose of rich orchard fruit, orange peel and marmalade. Palate has round, rich and slightly sweet fruit with lots of appeal and sufficient freshness throughout. In a really great spot, but likely the tail end of its prime drinking window.

Fresh cut green applies and mineral aromas. The palate is crisp, bright and vibrant. Builds body with air. Herb nuances come about with time. Drinking at peak and should hold that way for 3-5 years. in a more elegant style.

2016 Domaine Michel Lafarge Bourgogne France, Burgundy, Bourgogne

A delightful, attractive nose of fresh cut raspberry and florals. Palate is so juicy and loaded with fresh strawberry and raspberry fruit. Baby volnay and everything you'd like in a Bourgogne.

2014 Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay Vendanges Sélectionnées France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay
90 points
Full, substantial nose of red and black cherry with spice and florals. Excellent concentration and richness for a village wine. Nuances of spice and musk are just starting to emerge. Seamless balance. Upside as this settles into its prime drinking window over 5-10 years.

Nicely sweet and candied red cherry nose. The palate has fun, round, plush fruit and sweet florals. Starting to show some softening of age, but this should hold for 5+ years. No further upside.

95/03/07/09/11. Beautifully mature, layered and complex aromas of earthy cherry fruit, toasted herbs, and mushroom. The palate is nuanced yet still fresh, seamless and balanced. Smooth, layered finish. A strong 1995.

Wow, enticing nose with still primary strawberry, red cherry, fresh cut herbs and spice. Vibrant and energetic palate boasts delicious red fruit, with spice, florals and herbs. Fruit is still very fresh with plenty of freshening acidity. A wine of purity and soul. Everything in the right place in this peak zone that should hold for 10+ years.

95/03/07/09/11. Powerful aromas that show delicious candied, ripe red cherry with toasted herbs and spice. Amazing powerful and concentration here, that is more than you'd expect for the house style, but well-balanced and pure. This is fun and delicious now but I suspect will be even better in 10-20 years. Several points of upside.

95/03/07/09/11. Pretty red cherry, berries and herbs on the nose. Juicy red cherry with suppleness and medium weight. A real success in 2011. At peak and should hold for 5+ years.

Tasted alongside '11 Clos du Château des Ducs, and this is a step up across the board. Rich, dense red and black cherry with herbal accents. Excellent concentrated red cherry is impressive (especially in the context of 2011). Great balance of plump fruit and fresh, buoyant acidity. Round, appealing finish. At peak and should hold for 5-10 years.

Two bottles served from the same cellar. The first which was open for a few hours was stewy and off. The second which was pop n' pour was excellent. Mature, earthen red cherry aromas made bright by floral and spice accents. Love the round, plump and juicy fruit that has that ideal balance of freshness with earthen complexity. At peak and should hold for 5+ years.
