March 2008 Disgorgement.
Maybe we have come across our new favorite NV champagne. Impressive really, well round, nice richness, vinous wine. Harmonious and just the extra kick of sharpness at the end. Very solid 93

Fascinating once again to try this post the superb bottle a month ago ( Papies 96) and albeit this was not at that level still another memorable experience. Superb 93-94

Such a great experience coming across these wines overflowing with life and energy.
Some decanting is advisable here too as it does help the wine open up. Richer than other 1er Crus of his, a touch riper and with well managed oak, soft honey a bit less flinty/mineral and more juicy richness but a Chablis after all and what a wine . We do indeed have a feel the 1er crus of his which are less fatty and oaky are the wines to go for. 94

Decanting helps and post that the wine is a masterclass.
Soft smoky oak, ripe apple, honey dollops and with a firmness that comes from Rhone varieties in the blend. Soft bitter edge too but frankly for the most a rich, well balanced and effortless wine , full of energy and vitality and one that will deliver for many more summers. Superb. 95

Its been 3 year since we had this last ( Papies 92) and this continues on , big, and rich with almost a feel of an amarone that at times made it too much . Frankly maybe they lost control of the ripeness and/or extraction here that made the wine a touch overdone. Not burnt thankfully but a touch too rich. 91

We love it ( well not love paying for it) that these wine are back in sort of fashion and people paying more and more attention at them
This 1990 from a half bottle was just the number needed to finish our dinner at Les 110 de Taillevent , London. Selected by the superb sommelier Lucas, this filled the gap. Nutty, soft oxidative, rich caramel at time. One needs to try to experience these wine for sure. Easy 93

Opened and left to rest for a good hour. Care should be taken with the cork as they are on the brittle side and also standing it for a good period of time to settle the sediment is better than forcing a decant.
Much like the last few time we had this (13 times in the last 13 years !) this has been a masterclass of a wine for those who love old school classic claret. Earthy, leathery, cedar, soft spice and tertiary yet healthy fruit. Open on the nose too, expressive and such a joy to see it still delivering. 94

Dead bottle.. 4 in total dead bottles all low level and so so corks. painful
