Flight 1 (3 notes)

White
2021 Èkhô White Greece, Aegean, Cyclades, Naxos
Potamisi, Aidani plus more varieties, mountainous plot at 600m altitude,>150yo ungrafted bush vines, btl 0145/1010, 13%
-/-
The wine shows density in the nose, citrus peel, grapefruit, pear, a touch herbal, lemon leaf acidic notes.
Palate shows high intensity, very fresh, high acidity, rather harsh at this point, feels far warmer than its 13% (could be the serving temp though), medium body, mineral, line, lemon, medium finish
Rosé
2021 Èkhô Rosé Greece, Aegean, Cyclades, Naxos
Field blend of Fokiano and unknown varieties, sea-facing parcel, 200m altitude, >45yo of ungrafted bush vines on terraces, btl 679/1250, 12%
-/-
Rather pale rose color, much closer to a darker white.
It shows medium intensity in the nose, a few reductive notes, loads of nutty/oaky notes, pastry notes. The ripe stone fruit sits in the back. With time and a lot of moving around in the glass, you get more fruit (but not that much), pink grapefruit, red currants, with a few sweet notes like mastic.
In the palate, the wine shows tannins, medium to high acidity, still rather harsh in texture, red fruit, grapefruit notes, pomegranate hints. The wine shows medium to full body, medium to high acidity, long finish.
The wine needs time to settle down, even though I’m not sure if it ever will
Red
2020 Èkhô Red Greece
Limnio grapes from the island of Limnos, sea-facing parcel on volcanic subsoil, >70yo ungrafted bush vines, btl 553/600, designated as “varietal wine from Greece”, grapes transferred to Naxos for vinification.
The color is quite pale red cherry-like
In the nose, the wine shows medium intensity, riper form of red fruits, cherry, overripe strawberry, earthy, nutty notes, thin oak frame, roasted almond notes, overripe pomegranate, fresh plum, sweet spice notes (clove)
In the palate, the wine shows tensity, edgy tannins, clear red and black fruit, currants, raspberries, some black fruit notes, still very youthful, a few smoky notes, medium to full body, medium to high acidity, pomegranate, much fresher than the nose, prunes, plums, medium finish.
Needs food at this point
