Introduction

The Wines were good but the food was the star of the show. John B. is a true hunter and grilled up quail, pheasant and many other amazing meats. Wonderful time.

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White
2020 Bodega Catena Zapata Chardonnay Catena High Mountain Vines Argentina, Mendoza
88 points
Very nice wine and good value. Lemon, spice, tropical fruit and a hint of oak. Medium finish. Good value.
White
2018 Concha y Toro Chardonnay Marqués de Casa Concha Chile, Maipo Valley, Pirque
89 points
This was also very nice and more Chablis like which works for me. Minerals, shells, orange peel, lemon and mild spice. Short to medium finish and good acidity.
Red
2011 Montes Alpha M Chile, Rapel Valley, Colchagua Valley
92 points
Near the end of the drinking cycyle but very good. Bordeaux like in many ways with cherry, minerals, tobacco, gravel, perfume and raspberries. Medium plus finish. Drink now.

Red
2017 Bodega Piedra Negra (François Lurton) Malbec Chacayes Argentina, Mendoza, Valle de Uco, Chacayes
93 points
This was very nice and plenty of time left on this bottle. Decanted 1 hour. Perfume, blueberries, coffee beans, bitter chocolate and plum. Nice concentration and complex wine. Drink now to 2030.
Red
2019 Terrazas de Los Andes Malbec Grand Malbec Argentina, Mendoza
88 points
This was fine but needs some time. No decant was performed. Blackberries, pepper, spice and earth. Probably would have benefitted from a 3 day wine review but it is an offline so not possible. 88-91 points.

2019 Bodega Catena Zapata Malbec Argentino Argentina, Mendoza

Very nice and decanted 2 hours. Violets, crushed rock, spices, sour cherry, perfume and blue currants. This will age nicely over the next decade. 93+
