Pale lemon with medium intensity on the nose with white peach, honey, waxiness, creamy, salty, pear, white blossom and minerality. Medium+ acidity, mouth coating with a medium finish with a bitter note.

White
2016 Domaine des Rémizières Crozes-Hermitage Blanc Cuvée Christophe France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Crozes-Hermitage
87 points
This spent 2 hours in a decanter, but still it was hard to look beyond the oak. On the (medium+) nose mainly vanilla with butter, caramel, beewax, some tropical fruit and ripe melon. Acidity is medium- and the palate is a bit shallow, not in balance with the nose. Bitter medium finish.
85% Marsanne, 15% Roussanne from ~60 year old vines. Wine has spent 12 months on 30% new oak and 70% 1 year old oak

Flight 2 (1 note)

White
2018 François Merlin Condrieu Cuvée Jeanraude France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Condrieu
90 points
For me Condrieu is always a bit of a guilty pleasure; utterly enjoyable, but not a full bottle. This is a good example of a Condrieu with a pronounced intensity on the nose with flowers, peach, minerality, vanilla, apricot. Medium acidity and bitter note in the long finish

Red
2020 Domaine Jamet Côtes du Rhône France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône
88 points
Medium purple with medium+ intensity on the nose. Coffee, maggi, some lactic notes, black fruit, ham/cheese chips. On the palate black currant juice. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins with a medium finish. 100% destemmed, 12 months in old barriques

Sligthly disappointed, 2 bottles in the cellar to see how they will age

Red
2016 François Villard St. Joseph Reflet France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph
90 points
Medium intensity with red cherries, black currant, smoke, ceder a hint of nailpolish remover. Medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish.

A bit too polished for my taste, some people had a BDX resemblance. From 26 ha, 75% whole bunch 17 months on oak, 1/3 new

Flight 4 (3 notes)

Red
2020 Pierre Gonon Ardèche Les Iles Feray France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Ardèche
90 points
Pretty juicy; deep cherries, black fruit (black berry, black currant), black pepper, some barnyard. Medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish. 90+ for now, will be much better in 3-5 years

Partly destemmed. From young vines within the AOC St Joseph and old vines from outside. 13-15 months in demi-muds

2012 Pierre Gonon St. Joseph France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph
92 points
Gorgeous St Joseph with a great combination of primary, secondary and tertiary aroma’s. Medium+ aroma intensity with black fruit, even some red berries, cherry, sous bois, leather, bacon, licorice, smokiness. Medium+ acidity, medium+ but finely integrated tannins, long finish. 92-93, great wine

2020 Pierre Gonon St. Joseph France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph
91 points
Great potential, but quite restrained today, probably too little air. Cherry, black berry, black currant, bacon notes, black olives, licorice. With more time in the glass the aroma’s changed to more velvety black cherry and black fruit, clove. Medium acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish. Needs at least another 5 years based on tonights showing. 91++

Much more fruit driven than the 2017, guess this vintage will age better. Black berry, black currant, bacon, black cherry, olives. Medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish. 92+
Red

This was truly special, the clear WOTN. The wine kept developing in the glass and become more interesting and interesting.
