Introduction
Time to look at the last few of my lovely Ridge's...a wine that has now become prohibitively expensive down under unfortunately...
Flight 1 - Lytton Springs (2 notes)
Red
1993 Ridge Lytton Springs
From Coravin. Aromas of caramel, sweet plums, smidge of dried cherry and cranberry, vanilla, a little leather and sweet spice, fades with time in the glass. It's a little sour on the palate with more cherried fruit and woody tannic grip which is quite chalky . medium length with slight alcoholic warmth, Hmm, drink up
Red
2013 Ridge Lytton Springs
From Coravin. Dense fresh plums with a little cherry and dusty sweet spice, vanilla, touch of herbaceousness. Juicy, densely fruited on the palate as well, all herbaceous and fresh plum with a little cherry underpin married to drying woody tannins that are quite velvety textured and persists long. Nice.
Flight 2 - Cabernet based blends (5 notes)
Red
1986 Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet
From Coravin. Leather, earth, mushroom, red hued fruit; cranberry, currant, a little vanilla and sweet spice. Juicy, slightly dilute cranberry fruit, a little tannic burr tugs the back palate joined by some non-intrusive alcohol warmth with helps carry the finish long. Nice but, like the 93 Lytton Springs, drink up.
Red
2005 Ridge Santa Cruz Mountains Estate
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas initially that, with agitation, show a little alcohol prickle, vanilla, backing spices, muted black hued fruits; oak in the ascendancy here. Initially a fair like of oak on the palate as well then a slowing growing blackcurrant and cream note takes over. Gentle, slightly chalky rasp, long. Very good.
Red
2013 Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon Estate
From Coravin. Fresh wild blackcurrant, a little plum, a touch of pyrazine, vanilla, cream, sweet spice, still quite primary. Juicy, wild blackcurrant backed by a little black plum. Sweet spice, slight non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the finishes lends a little peppery note, tannins are quite woody textured and drying. Hmm, time.

Red
2004 Ridge Monte Bello
From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas show a little sweet spice, polished oak, blackcurrant but having to work it quite hard to get this. Time shows a little biscuit. It's a bit muted on the palate as well; a touch of juicy, slightly sour black fruits. Some woody textured tannins, smidge of bitterness on the finish. Not flawed just, well, not very nice.
Red
2006 Ridge Monte Bello
From Coravin. Polished oak, vanilla, sweet spice backed by a little cream and black hued fruits. With agitation the fruit and spice beings to pop; blackcurrant; blackberry; a little plum, very slight pyrazine. Slightly sour red and black fruit on the palate is joined by hefty, chewy, woody and grape tannic grip. All travel long, the sweet oak helps out that sour fruit and creates a more harmonious oral experience. Time but some promise.

Lot of fun - a couple of my oldsters need to be drunk up, pity about the Monte Bello's, the 2005 Santa Cruz was very nice
