White - Sparkling
2012 Diebolt-Vallois Champagne Grand Cru Fleur de Passion Brut France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
94 points
My contribution, was surprised no-one at the table knew this producer but maybe it is a good thing that it is still under the radar. Similar impressions to the bottle last year. Crisp citrus fruit with some green apple, the higher acidity and lower dosage stood apart from the two house champagnes. Always one of my favourites.
White - Sparkling
2006 Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Cuvée Rare France, Champagne

Big and broad, clearly a house and from a warmer vintage but so youthful that I guessed 2012. Bready and rich, good for an everyday drinking champagne but not at this price point.
White - Sparkling
2012 Dom Pérignon Champagne France, Champagne
91 points
Intense and rich, but curiously quite a thin body which made it come across as bland. Guessed a weaker vintage like 2014/15. Didn’t have the signature reductive notes but after a couple of hours the gunpowder notes made it obvious that it was a Dom.

White
2018 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
94 points
Brought for a friend. Pale straw colour in comparison to the Bachelet-Monnot. Rich, plenty of oak use which I am more tolerant of in Chardonnays if well-integrated. Had a lovely viscous texture, citrus fruit that bordered on floral and exotic. Everything you want from a white Burgundy.
White
2016 Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru

Darker yellow in colour compared to the Drouhin, at first it wasn’t quite in balance so went for 2016. Not as enamel-stripping as I thought B-M would be, better with air as the citrus fruit became more obvious. A classic, restrained white Burgundy.
Red
2016 Sylvain Cathiard Bourgogne France, Burgundy, Bourgogne

Wow this was a large-scaled, tannic monster at first. Thought this was from a big vintage like 2015, but with air the structure receded a little to show its class. Pure, silky dark red cherry fruit that I loved.
Red
2013 Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Le Corton France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
92 points
A rare Bouchard red that I actually liked. Guessed 2010 Chambolle because of the balanced, delicate red cherry fruit that had a slight candied note. Perhaps they scaled back the oak use in a cooler year? Purer on pop and pour, tannins got a little dustier with air.
Red
2012 Pierre Damoy Chapelle-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru

Some greenness to this so I thought 2011, clearly a Gevrey with iron and meaty notes. A powerful, masculine wine that was quite old-school in nature.
Red
2003 Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
flawed
Some port-like notes on the nose. On the palate it was rather stewed and pruney, lacked acidity. Another masculine wine from a warmer vintage so guessed 2005 Gevrey. Either it was advanced because it was a ‘03 or because of poor provenance.
