Introduction

Everyone contributed a bottle or more.
We tried to cover all of the villages in the Cotes de Nuits.
Single blind, so we had the list of wines available to us but we did not know the order in which they were being served.

Flight 1 (11 notes)

Red
2014 Aurelien Verdet Nuits St. Georges France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
Pretty ruby with pinkish rim; aromatic, sexy, floral, perfumed, lacy roses and red fruit, nice oak, plush, easy, a bit more superficial, not as serious as #2; sexy overall and somewhat hedonistic; guessed '14 Parent Chambolle.
Red
2013 Domaine Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Beaux Bruns France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
A touch darker color, maybe more age, some orange in the rim; funk, deeper, layered, mushroom, sexy dark red fruit, mineral galore, serious stuff, tobacco; should unfurl with more air; delicious; the complexity and depth is suggesting someone brilliant like Barthod.
Red
2015 Domaine Gérard Julien et Fils Nuits St. Georges Aux St. Julien France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
Some age, red core with orange rim; pretty nose, sour cherry, orange zest, dusty earth, a bit sweeter and more generous on the palate, fresh and plush finish, decent length, nice sap, dried tea and red fruit, slightly shorter. (guessed Verdet NSG)
Red
2017 Domaine Tawse Gevrey-Chambertin Village France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Brighter fresher ruby; lovely spice, darker fruit, some reduction, more plumminess, generous, sexy fruit then a bit more heft. (guessed Fixin)
Red
2012 Domaine Dujac Morey St. Denis France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis
Crimson core with pronounced orange rim; very expressive nose, in a good spot, funk, earth, orange, a bit shorter length, licorice, pepper, minty drying out a bit but not bad now.

Red
2017 Faiveley Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Damodes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Ruby with lighter rim; pretty nose, classic, darker, reduced, darker berry and plum, balanced; '17 Gevrey?
Red
2014 Mathias Parent Chambolle-Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
Crimson core with red rim; saucisson, meaty, reduction, very savory, some dried floral, late grip, sappy, unique and tasty.
Red
2009 Domaine Daniel Rion et Fils Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Darker core with orange rim; dark cherry, menthol, spice, late wood tannin, sappy; '17 Faiveley NSG?
Red
2015 Domaine Odoul-Coquard Vosne-Romanée France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée
Fresher color, darker crimson with paler rim; reduction, funk, darker fruit, spice, exotic, heading towards mushroom, very spicy; has to be the Vosne.
Red
2018 Domaine Pierre Gelin Fixin 1er Cru Hervelets France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Fixin 1er Cru
Cloudy violet; VA, super aromatic and unique, pretty, crushed violets, a sweetness, whole cluster, good ripeness, could have almost been in Oregon with this one; is this the Dujac?- very fresh if the 2012...
Red
2014 Domaine Joseph Roty Marsannay Ouzeloy France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Marsannay
Cloudy duller ruby; lots of reduction clouding the nose here, obtrusively so, juicy red fruit, sour red plum, hard to get much out of this; has to be the Roty.

Closing

Harder than expected. I only guessed 3 correctly.
