N.V. Tarlant Champagne BAM! France, Champagne
October 2021 disgorgement, which gives the wine about 10 years on the lees, a big number for sure. 2010 base, with perpetual blended in of 50%, using wines back to 2007. No dosage. About half of the wine is Petit Meslier, and the rest equal parts Arbanne and Pinot Blanc. This has a clear citrus profile that shows a tart edge. Pink grapefruit and kumquat come through for me. The finish is a little green/astringent. Retasted the wine with the final few ounces today. It's a distinct wine, with an entry of creaminess that is cool and delicious, and then wham, the citrusy tart comes in and takes over the finish. So, less about balance and more about a tale of 2 tastes. Interesting.

2015 André Heucq Champagne Hommage Parcellaire les Roches France, Champagne
What a treat to drink this wine. 100% Pinot Meunier, no dosage, farmed biodynamic. Some pastry on the nose. Yellow apple, nectarine (and other stone fruit but it's mainly nectarine), blood orange. Some minerality appears in the finish, along with some structure as the wine sits out. Overall, I very much dug this wine and it battled nicely as the best wine on the table with the Laval Chenes.

2018 Marguet Champagne Grand Cru Le Parc France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Yikes, no notes on this wine yet? I guess that makes sense as the wine was just disgorged earlier this year in March (according to the bottle label). 100% Chardonnay, no dosage. There is a mix of wood in the aroma, plus what we debated at the table as to some other aromas, perhaps something volatile. Not really sure but the wine was not liked by the table, or to say better, it was least preferred of the 4 other selections we tasted. Herb and spicy apple, with what Astrid called a resiny note. I did perceive the palate as having good balance but the aromatic just seemed to turn off the table.

2018 Georges Laval Champagne Premier Cru Brut Nature Les ChĂȘnes France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
Disgorged March 2022. No dosage. Man, this wine was killin' it. Crushed rock nose. Sour apple, touch oily, with pear and sour apple pie filling. Lemon peel and slate in the finish. Overall, this seems like the complete package kind of wine to me, complex and concentrated, with everything in place. Excellent.

2018 Ruppert-Leroy Champagne Martin Fontaine France, Champagne
May 2021 disgorgement, no dosage. White pepper and honey in the aroma. Has a tighter, coiled structure. Juicy, yet grippy and a bit tart. Pear, lemon, lime zest and cardamom (thank you, Astrid). Retasted the wine today with the final few ounces. There is evolution here, with the edge of structure not so prominent, allowing the wine to be in better balance. The lemony note becomes more pronounced, better defined. Of note, there is nothing gold in this wine (some R-L wines can show a golden color) and no oxidative qualities. This just seems clean, fresh to me.

N.V. Mouzon-Leroux & Fils Ratafia de Champagne L'Exaltant France, Champagne, Ratafia de Champagne
I don't drink this style of Champagne very often but last night Astrid kicked down a bottle with the dessert she made, we paired them up. I did like this wine. Pours a rose/brown. 100% Pinot Noir. Brown sugar, crushed strawberries/jam and red apple. Just a little kick of alcohol in the finish but with the dessert, it works! I was so intrigued that I grabbed my phone and chased down Vilmart's version and bought a bottle to be delivered. Heck, why not keep going and try some more ratafia. It seems like a great closing pour to a meal and I'm game to keep going.
