White - Off-dry
2017 Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch (Erben-Thanisch) Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spätlese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Light yellow. Light weight, moderately sweet. Golden apple, slate, and very good acidity.
Red
2009 Pierre-Marie Chermette Fleurie Poncié France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Fleurie
Pale color, fading edge. Cool menthol aromas. Light weight, soft red fruits and soil with very good underpinning of acidity and a bit of Gamay tanginess. Resolved and very pretty.
Red
2009 Pierre-Marie Chermette Moulin-à-Vent Les Trois Roches France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Moulin-à-Vent
Light red. Ripe fruit aromas without any green notes. Impressive concentration of sappy blackberry, dark red fruit, and licorice with significant remaining tannic clout. A big cru with serious depth and structure that is not yet at peak. More a wine of the vintage than the Fleurie was.

Red
2005 Domaine Pavelot (Jean-Marc et Hugues) Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru La Dominode France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru
Ruby center, fading rim. Funk and fennel on the nose along with whole cluster scents. Medium weight. Very solid blue and black fruit, some brambliness, excellent acidity, lots of earth, and moderately grippy tannins. Just enough of a hint of wildness to give it more interest. Excellent now but not yet mature. Another 5 to 8 years?

White - Sweet/Dessert
1999 August Kesseler Rüdesheimer Bischofsberg Riesling Beerenauslese Goldkapsel Germany, Rheingau
Half bottle. Deep amber. Honeyed aromas. Very sweet fruit in the dried fig register. Unctuous but a little dull due to average acidity. Good length but the finish is not harmonious.
White - Sweet/Dessert
1999 August Kesseler Rüdesheimer Berg Schloßberg Riesling Beerenauslese Goldkapsel Germany, Rheingau
Half bottle. Tasted next to the Bischofsberg BA from the same year. Amber color with a glint of orange. Again, honeyed aromas with some high toned botrytis. Similar degree of sweetness and fig fruit as the other wine, but here there was some orange peel and better acidity which made it feel livelier. Delicious and probably immortal.
